Then there was Matt. Sweet, kind, thoughtful, hunky Matt. Her rock. Who might not have Chris’s mad sexual skills, but who could turn her on just as quickly with his kisses and caresses.
She’d loved pleasuring him last night, and he’d been a quick learner who paid close attention to what she liked and how she liked it.
I want them both, she thought.
The realization immediately sent her imagination into the gutter, where it enthusiastically presented her with an impossibly far-fetched, but deeply arousing fantasy of having them both. At the same time.
A threesome? Really?Sophie asked herself, trying to deny how much the fantasy was turning her on right now.
She wondered whether her body was trying to make up for lost time now that she’d found not one but two attractive, sexy men who wanted to give her lots of orgasms.
On cue, her phone chimed with a text message. She saw that the text was from Matt.
I’m here with Chris. We need to talk to you.
Sophie went cold. This can’t be good, she thought.
Be right there, she texted back.
She noticed what time it was, and told herself that if she ended up running late for her lunch date, she’d just text Ellie and let her know that something had come up.
When she arrived back at Matt and Chris’s house, they were both waiting in the kitchen for her.
Matt was wearing a really unhappy expression when she walked in. Chris looked uncharacteristically serious, and tension fogged the air between her two friends. They were at opposite ends of the kitchen, with Matt leaning against the counter next to the stove, and Chris seated at the very end of the island, with a half-eaten plate of scrambled cheesy eggs and bacon in front of him.
Sophie wasn’t sure what this was about, but she had a bad feeling that it had something to do with her epic date last night with Matt.
No one spoke for a long moment.
Matt was glowering at Chris, and Chris seemed fascinated by something at the bottom of his coffee mug.
“Do you want to tell her, or should I?” Matt demanded at last.
Sophie’s stomach dropped.
Looking extremely uncomfortable, Chris looked at her. “I need to tell you that things have changed. We can’t just be friends with benefits anymore. I’m, uh—” He swallowed hard. “I mean, I want to court you. For my mate.” His face turned dark red, but his green eyes held hers steadily.
“What?” Sophie blinked at him. This wasn’t the news she had expected…at all. “For real?"
Matt crossed his arms, but didn’t look surprised by Chris’s declaration. Which meant he’d known about this already.
Chris nodded solemnly.
Sophie was torn by conflicting emotions. She was both excited that Chris was serious about her, and extremely nervous about the mess they were now in.
“What happened, Chris?” she asked, bewildered. “I thought you just wanted to be friends.”
Chris shrugged. “I swear I’m not doing this to mess with Matt, or with you. But the last time we, uh, hung out, my cat informed me that it wanted you as our mate.”
“Wait—thatwas the stuff you mentioned was going on with you?” she asked, the pieces suddenly falling into place.
He nodded, and she saw him take a deep breath. “Sophie, can I court you?”
Sophie glanced between Matt and Chris, trying to decide what to do. They both looked super-unhappy.
“It’s your decision,” Matt said quietly, but she could see what it cost him to say that.
What if they make me choose between them right now?Panic raced through at the thought.I can’t!I don’t want to lose them…either of them.
