“Fine.” He scowls. “Won’t be easy with your cute little outfits, now that I know what’s underneath them, but I’ll make an effort.”

“You were a SEAL. Were you not trained for self-control?” I shake my head with an exasperated sigh.

“What else?”

“No more weekend squatting in my house,” I say. “In fact, to avoid the situation, no more intentional sleepovers.”

“I don’t know what anintentionalsleepover is.”

“It means that unless you fuck me into total exhaustion, we don’t spend the night.”

A slow and sexy grin spreads over Jonah’s face, and I prepare myself for a clever comeback. But then his smile falters, and his gaze turns unreadable.

“Yeah, that makes sense.”

“What is it?” I ask, tracing his smooth jaw with my fingers.

“I don’t do sleepovers, remember?” His onyx eyes fix on mine. “The weekend, at your house? Let’s just say it wasn’t intentional.”

“Are you sayingIfuckedyouinto exhaustion?”

“That’s the second time you’ve said the word fuck.” The corners of Jonah’s lips tug up in the slightest. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say it before.”

“A lady doesn’t use crass language,” I sniff with indignation. “Also, you’re deflecting. Are you scared you won’t be able to pull off an equally outstanding performance, Cadet?”

Jonah laughs, amusement twinkling in his eyes. “Is that a challenge, Doll? Because I’m up for it.”

“I don’t think you are.” I get off the bed and walk toward the bathroom. “I think I’m going to draw myself a nice relaxing bath.” Jonah stares at me, heat blooming in his eyes, and I squeal with delight when he sprints toward me. “Jonah Peak, don’t be a brat!”

I make a beeline for the closest wall, and as soon as I turn around, Jonah presses his body against mine, trapping me between his hard body and the wall.

“It isn’t nice to force an injured man to run around like that.”

“What’re you going to do about it?”

“Once upon a time, I’d pin you up against the wall and fuck you brainless.” Jonah nips at my bottom lip. “That guy would have you passed out from exhaustion in his bed every single night.”

“You’re awfully preoccupied with my image of a man I’ve never met.”

“He would have stolen you away from me in a blink.”

“I’m not so sure. He sounds like a cocky jackass.” Jonah laughs and I grin. “You know, I was meaning to ask you why you thought you wouldn’t last the first time we had sex.”

“It had been a while.”

“How long?”

“Since Andrew’s wedding.”

I scrunch my nose. “That’s right before I started working for Peak Securities.”

“Coincidence.” Jonah shrugs.

“Since when do we believe in those?” I ask with a teasing smirk, and he pulls me flush against him, kissing me hot and hard while steering us back to the bed. “You’re going to have to be on top the rest of the night, so I don’t put extra strain on my leg.”

I can’t stop the bubbling laughter. “You really are insufferable.”

“Yeah, I am,” he agrees with a chuckle, plopping onto the bed. “You kind of like it, though.”
