“You and Dom used to be close, right?” he asked suddenly in a low and raspy voice. Before I could respond, his lips descended on my neck, eliciting a pleasure-filled gasp from me.
“Yes.” I breathed out. “W-why?”
He began to trail his mouth down my chest until he reached my right nipple. His lips circled around it, followed by the soft glide of his tongue. Pleasure pooled in my abdomen, followed by sparks of electricity. This did feel … good.Reallygood. But was it good enough to make me forget all about Dominic?
“Did he ever touch you like this?” he whispered against my sternum.
Alarm bells resounded within my skull. Why was he so concerned about my friendship with Dominic? Maybe I was just being paranoid, but there was something niggling at the back of my mind—something I couldn’t quite make sense of.
“Answer me, Hazel.” His voice was light and airy, brimming with desire. The hand on my hip drifted lower, his fingers toying with the waistband of my leggings. My thighs tightened with anticipation.
“I …” I trailed off, a stitch forming between my brows. “Why?”
He pushed his fingers downward, coming into contact with my panties. The heat from his hand seared through my skin, causing me to shudder in response.
“Just curious. You were close and then … you weren’t.”
The question sounded innocent enough. What could telling him really do? If he was such a horrible person, Dominic wouldn’t be friends with him, right?
Swallowing past the lump in my throat, I nodded. “Once. Before he left.”
Mason rolled his lower lip between his teeth, his jaw feathering with … annoyance? That couldn’t be right. “I’m going to make you feel really good now, okay?” he whispered.
Without another word, he plunged a single finger inside of me. A startled gasp slipped past my defenses, my fingers curling into the front of his shirt. Only one person has ever touched me there. Only one person has everbeendown there.
“Fuck.” He panted. “It’s so tight?—”
He was cut off mid-sentence by the door swinging open. It slammed into the wall beside it, making one of the picture frames fall from it. Fear tumbled through me. The thought of someone, anyone, seeing me like this had embarrassment tearing through my body in waves.
I didn’t even have time to turn and see who it was before Mason was ripped away from me. He fell to the ground with a grunt, Dominic hovering over him.
Mason peered up, a snarl curling his upper lip. Gone was the charming boy who’d just wanted to get laid, and in his place was the darker, more sinister version. “Just friends,” he mocked, narrowing his eyes at Dom.
Confusion tore through me. Why did it matter what me and Dominic were to one another?
“If youevertouch her again, I’ll kill you.” Dominic’s voice was low and malicious, the sound sending chills down my spine. It reminded me of the way he’d acted at his welcome home party.
Mason tipped his chin, something dark passing between them—something I didn’t understand. “You threatening me now?”
“No. I’m warning you.” He cocked his arm back and released, letting his fist fly into the side of Mason’s jaw.
I jumped, slapping a hand over my mouth. My heart pounded erratically, confusion pulsating through every crevice of my body.
“Bitch,” Mason sneered, pushing himself up off the floor, his gaze locked on Dom’s. “You think your little temper tantrum isgoing to stop me?” His eyes slid to me, trailing over my half naked form with intrigue. “Now, I want her more than ever.” He returned his attention to Dominic. “And we both know … Ialwaysget what I want.” He raised the glistening finger in the air, the one he’d buried inside me, and slid it into his mouth, never taking his eyes off my former friend’s.
Dominic lunged for him, but Mason was quicker this time. He sidestepped him and proceeded to back toward the door.
“See you atwork, buddy.” He grabbed the doorknob, twisted it, and slipped into the hall.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Dominic whirled on me. “What the fuck were you thinking, Haze?” he snapped.
I’d never see him like this before. He was so … unhinged. He was pissed, but there was something else there, too. Fear. I wanted to reach into his skull and pick his brain. He owed me answers, and it was about time I freaking got them.
Desperate.
Dominic had said I was desperate, so why not play into that little narrative he’d conjured up?
Tilting my chin, I gritted my teeth. Anger swarmed through my veins like liquid lava, building and building until it had taken the reins. “I was horny.” I shrugged, doing my best to keep my tone as neutral as possible.
