“Sherrie, all of you arrived literally less than five minutes ago into this room. I’m not sure how you can be late for a meeting that I never called. I don’t expect any of my associates to be dogs and come at my beck and call. Is that how you run this branch?”

Aw, shit now! Some of the eyes in the room were bucked at his call out, including Sherrie’s. That was what her ass got for trying to be fucking funny. She’s had more color on her face today than any other day that I had known her.

She cleared her throat and flailed her arms widely. “No, no! Of course, that is not how I run the branch. I have full respect for all of my associates.”

I snorted with amusement at her blatant lie. When the attention in the room turned to me, I smacked my hand over my mouth.

“I’m so sorry. I tried to stifle a sneeze unsuccessfully. Please forgive me.”

Sherrie’s face held contempt, while Orion’s face held amusement. He gave me a knowing look because she was full of shit.

“That’s fine, Elodie. Everyone, I called the lunch meeting because many of you have never met him. I had the privilege to meet him at a marketing conference that the company hosted in Greece. It was an amazing time. I wanted to take the time so that you all could meet him.”

Orion smiled brightly but managed to still side eye her. “As she said, I don’t frequent this office often because it is one of my more successful offices with landing accounts and marketing performance.” His hand extended in my direction. “I actually want to give flowers to Miss Elodie for leading a successful team as the marketing manager. I pull the reports often, and your name along with your team are always at the top.”

Now, my eyes were bucked to have gotten recognition from the owner of the company. I also noticed that when he said my name, he said miss like it was a question. Whew, Sherrie didn’t like those flowers and was about to choke on the damn thorns. She loved to take the credit for others’ accomplishments.

“Oh, wow! That was unexpected. It really was a team effort, and under the great leadership of Sherrie, anything is possible.”

The sarcasm in my voice wasn’t missed by Orion, but it was clear that it was by Sherrie. She placed her hand over her heart and bowed her head. This silly bitch.Orion chuckled with a headshake.

“Well, Orion, I took the initiative to order some lunch for the staff so we can eat. How long are you in the states for?” Sherrie asked.

She must have forgotten that she was in a room full of people. Her voice was entirely too flirtatious, and her fingertips drawing down her breasts that were displayed in the extremely low-cut blouse she wore was in ill taste.

With a smirk, Orion responded. “I’m in the states permanently. I’ve moved to the area and plan to spend a lot more time in this office. I want to truly see who is putting in the work and who may be expendable. This will now be my home office.”

The way he zoned into Sherrie scared me, so I knew her ass was terrified.

“Oh, okay. We are happy to have you.” The surprise played over her face. Her hand extended toward where the food was set up. “Please, everyone, enjoy the lunch.”

Everyone got up to get in line to eat. Everyone would take advantage of a lunch paid for by her because it never happened. There was a budget line for monthly company sponsored lunches. However, it was never used. Well, it wasn’t used for company lunches, but I digress.

I waited until the line died down before I got up to get something to eat. My eyes moved toward the ceiling and rolled because of the food that was spread on the table. I guess I couldn’t be picky about a free lunch.

“So, whose idea was it to get Greek food for lunch? That’s a little on the head, don’t you think?”

This shiver that I couldn’t explain rushed through me from Orion’s voice behind me. His voice was deep, sensual, and sultry. It was like sex in a voice. I wanted to throw my head back at my overly sexualized thoughts about this man. I turned slightly to peek over my shoulder.

“Your number one fan thought it would be a good idea to pay homage by way of food for you. I tried to advise her against it, but she has the last word.”

“I can see that. Well, that will change since this is now my home office,” he commented. “I plan to sit with you soon to consult with you on your marketing strategy for the new account you landed. Is that cool with you?”

That was cool, but it brought me pause. “Um, you want to talk with me about it before Sherrie reviews it? She usually reviews my proposals before they are sent out to make sure they are all good.”

“Hey, guys,” Sherrie interrupted our conversation. “What are we talking about over here?”

Her head bounced between me and Orion. Orion’s body shifted in her direction. “I was telling Elodie that I planned to consult with her in the upcoming days about her marketing strategy for the new account that she landed.” He turned his attention back to me. “I’m currently sourcing for an executive assistant. I’m almost finished interviewing. Once that is done, we will meet.”

Sherrie’s face tightened, and there went that color again. The different shades of red that it accomplished was commendable.

“Oh, I usually look at her marketing plans to work out the kinks before it’s sent to you.”

“I appreciate that, but it is no longer needed. I want to get the plan directly from Miss Elodie. You’re not needed.” He gave her his sexy ass smile. “I do appreciate you.”

She shifted on her feet and fidgeted with her fingers. “Mr. Leventis, I think it’s best if I review the plans first. I have a very keen eye for detail.”

Oh, it’s Mr. Leventis now.
