“Coloured water for me,” he said with a wink, before vaulting the bloody baragain.

My head thumped, my feet were tired from dancing, and I was soaked with either sweat or soda. Jackson, D-J, and Dex hadn’t stopped for hours. I’d watched as they’d wiped the sweat from their brows. As the evening began to wind down, the music changed, and dropped a pace. Jackson walked around the bar, I guess his vaulting and the evening had exhausted him a little, took my hand, and dragged me on the dance floor. He wrapped his arms around me, pulled me to his chest, and as we danced, he sang gently into myear.

It had been a perfect evening and I thought the Jackson I had witnessed had been the real man. That was until Honey showedup.

“Jackson, baby,” I heard in a slurredvoice.

I looked over his shoulder to see her slightly swaying behindhim.

“Fuck off, Honey,” he replied withoutlooking.

“I need you, baby,” she purred, well, tried toanyway.

“Go find someone else, I’m a little busy here,” he said as we partedslightly.

“Only you can play, Jack. Want a little daddypayback?”

He stiffened in my arms and my heart stopped abeat.

“What did she say?” Iasked.

The crowd had thinned as patrons made their way out into the early morningsunlight.

“Oh, sweetie, you don’t know? Jack and me, we like to play. I doubt she does rough, does she? Can she give you what I can, Jackson?” Honey said, over pronouncing hisname.

He turned to face her. I stood to his side, looking up at him and into a face I’d already seen. His features hadhardened.

“I’ll tell you one more time, Honey. Fuck off, now, before I drag you out.” His voice was so low it was almost agrowl.

She licked her lips and I saw her chest heave as her breath hitched in herthroat.

“Make me, Jack,” shechallenged.

I placed my hand on his arm. “Don’t,” Isaid.

“Daddy needs his punishment, Jack. Daddy hates you. Mommy doesn’t love you, Jack,” shesaid.

I was about to step forward and shut her up myself when I saw him reach out. As quick as a flash, he grabbed her by the arm. I screamed, D-J jumped across the bar, and the crowd parted as he walked her backwards towards thebar.

He moved so fast, she lost her footing and stumbled. I ran after them, pulling on hisarm.

All I could hear were her words as she continued to baithim.

“Dex,” I screamedout.

I felt arms around me. “I’ve got him,” Dexter said as he appeared at myside.

I watched as they disappeared through a door to the side of the bar, D-J stood in front to stop a guy going to Honey’s rescue. I caught his eye and he slowly closed them as he shook his head. I walkedover.

“Let me pass, D-J,” Isaid.

“Youdon’t…”

“Let me fucking pass, now,” Ishouted.

“Let her in, we need this,” Dexter said as he came to myside.

D-J stood to one side and I pushed through the door and into a storeroom. I followed her voice to anotherdoor.
