“Yes, good,” she said, arching up into the kiss. A kiss that turned into an inferno. “There is one thing, though,” she said, her voice shaky as she fought for breath.
He’d just started to slide his hand down toward her thigh, and his lips were a hair’s breadth from nipping her earlobe. He froze and looked up. “What’s that?”
Running her hand down his chest, then around his waist to his back, she gave him a soft, teasing smile. “Promise me that fighting forusmeans there will be lots ofthis,” she said, pressing her palm against his lower back and pulling him closer. “Because I plan to getveryused to the feel of your body moving with mine.”
Her nails scraped down his backside, and his hips jerked forward. He dipped his head and kissed her as he rocked his body against hers, feeling her legs tighten around him. “You are brilliant,” he said between kisses. “Your plan is brilliant.” Another kiss. “And now,” he said, moving back enough to be where he wanted. “If you don’t mind, I’d like to get started on it,” he said before sliding deep inside her.
CHAPTERTWENTY-ONE
“This isn’t goingto be an awkward morning after, is it?” Sabina asked. It wasn’t. She’d never been more comfortable in her whole life. But she did like to tease Chad.
“Every morning without you was awkward. This? This is the way it should be,” he murmured from behind her. He was wrapped around her body, still half asleep. She didn’t know how he managed such sweet words in his half state, but they made her smile, and she snuggled closer against him.
His body responded to her movements, the way she knew it would. Especially since it was morning. Unfortunately, they had to leave in twenty minutes if they wanted to make it to HICC as planned. And she needed a shower. Not to mention she could already hear Kara and Gina moving around downstairs.
Straightening her body into a long stretch, she shifted away. He remained on his side, but the hand that had been wrapped around her waist started a leisurely trip down her thigh then up toward her breast.
“Shower,” she said.
“Hmm,” he replied, spanning his hand across her stomach and pulling her against him again.
“And not together,” she said. “We have to leave in twenty minutes if we’re going to get to HICC in time.”
“Shit!” Chad exclaimed, jerking upright.
Startled, Sabina rolled to her back and looked up at him. “What?”
He raised a knee and rested his elbow on it as he ran his hand through his hair. Then he looked away.
“Chad?” Her voice was quiet, unsure of what was on his mind.
“We didn’t use a condom. Not that first time,” he answered, then he turned and met her gaze. “I’m so sorry. I’m clean, I can promise you that. But, well, that wouldn’t help with the…other thing.”
“You mean pregnancy?” she said, unable to stop a smile at his seeming inability to say the word.
He nodded.
“Do you want kids?” she asked.
His eyes widened, and he went still. Then he inhaled and answered on the exhale. “Yes, eventually. If the stars align and all that and you want them, too. But call me selfish. I’ve been wanting you for two years, and now that we’re here, I don’t want to rush anything. I want to enjoy this a little. In a lot of ways, we know each other well, but in others? We have a long way to go.”
His assumption that if he had kids, they’d be with her, gave her the warm fuzzies, but she agreed with him. And she was selfish, too. She wanted time for just the two of them.
“Well, I could draw this out and torment you a little more, but I won’t because I’m everything that is good and right in your world.” He snorted at that, as she knew he would, then she continued. “I have an IUD. It’s good for another two years. And I’m clean, too.”
“Two years?” he asked. She nodded. “So no need for condoms for at least two years?” Again, she nodded, not at all unsure where his mind was now.
“But while we don’t need to think about condoms, we do need to think about Kevin Jacobs.” She rolled her head and looked at his bedside clock. “And the fact that we now have fifteen minutes before we need to leave.”
He stared at her, clearly weighing whether he could convince her of a better way to spend those fifteen minutes than showering and getting ready. It wouldn’t take much, but just then, both their phones dinged with incoming texts.
Kara:Ethan texted and has some news. Believe me, I didn’t want to interrupt, but thought you should know he’s waiting for us
Chad groaned as Sabina threw the blankets off. “Sometimes decisions get made for us,” she muttered as she started hunting for her clothing.
“Take my robe. It’s hanging in the bathroom,” Chad said, swinging his feet to the floor.
She poked her head in, found the flannel robe, and wrapped it around herself. It was huge, but cozy and smelled like him. “Fifteen minutes downstairs?”
