Rebecca lifted her arm, aiming the shiny object in her hand at them. Realizing what it was too late, Laura Jean tried to shout, but the loud music drowned out her warning.

There was only enough time to shove Ben out of the way.

A crack in the air struck, and then another sounded, sending her hurtling back, free falling like she had in the dream.
