The sun was rising when he gave up trying to sleep. Wanting a shower, he went into the bathroom and checked his messages while waiting for the water to heat up. There was a text from Hawkins stating that he and the team were flying in tomorrow. Their truck driver turned out to be a dead end, and with the investigation’s pretty firm connection to the Fairweathers, Hawkins wasn’t taking any chances on missing an opportunity to make a name for himself within the Bureau.
Mathis would have been alerted by now of the team’s impending arrival, and Liam planned on calling him during the drive back to Florida later in the day. He was still pissed over being lied to.
Tossing his clothes aside, Liam got in the shower and was permitted a few seconds of peace before the bathroom door crashed open.
“Get out,” Jamison shrieked as if the hotel were on fire. “Now!”
Liam stuck his wet head out of the shower and saw her falling to the floor in front of the toilet. Understanding, he grabbed a towel, leaving the bathroom just in time.
The door slammed closed behind him, the sounds of her vomiting breaking through the barrier.
He knocked lightly. “What can I do to help?”
“Go away,” she moaned, retching harder. “Please don’t listen!”
Not about to leave her in this condition, he called down to room service, ordering food with several bottles of water,
A knock at the door sounded not long after he hung up.
“That was fast.”
Liam adjusted the towel tighter around his waist and opened the door to see a stunned Evie and a scowling Samuel standing in the hall.
“What the hell part of don’t fuck my sister did you not understand?”
Samuel shoved his way inside, with Evie weaving in right behind him.
“Good morning, Cohen,” she said, giving his naked chest an appreciative scan with a raised eyebrow. “Did you have a pleasant night?”
“Good morning,” Liam replied sarcastically. “Are you aware that your sister makes noises resembling an earthquake of dolphins when she sleeps?”
Evie grinned unapologetically. “Jamison comes with a plethora of sound effects. You should hear her when she sneezes.”
“Stop making fun of me,” Jamison’s muffled cries carried into the room, along with more gagging. “This is awful.”
Samuel snorted. “Good.”
Evie whacked his chest with the back of her hand. “Be nice,” she said to Samuel. “And at least Jamison is predictable when it comes to vomiting in public. I bet she sprayed it everywhere.”
“She did,” Liam confirmed. “Including on me.”
Going over to the bathroom, Evie rapped her knuckles on the door. “What do you need?”
“To die.”
“Sorry, that’s not in the plans for today. Get hydrated, take a Tylenol, and eat something,” Evie replied with little sympathy. “We’ll be back in an hour to pick you two up.”
Leaving Jamison to her misery, Evie came over to Liam and handed him a cup of coffee and a bag with the hotel’s name on it. “I picked up a few things for you at the gift shop. Here are some basic toiletries. Do you need anything else?”
“Some clothes. Jamison obliterated mine.”
“Serves you right.” Samuel tossed another bag at him, launching it at Liam’s face. “This is from me.”
Liam caught the flying bag one-handed, directly before it smacked him dead in the nose. Searching its contents, he pulled out a white shirt with enormous breasts on the front and the wordsBeads 4 Boobieswritten on the back.
Samuel shot him an evil grin. “Now, say thank you.”
“Fuck off.” Liam rummaged deeper into the bag. “There better be another shirt in here.”
