That made him chuckle. “The dog wants to live with me?”
“For sure. She adores you.”
“She is pretty cute.” He pushed up from the beach, sand stuck to his long, muscular frame, and came to kneel beside our chaise. “You’re not half bad either, even if your knees do pop when you get out of bed.”
“Are you insinuating something?”
“No, no, of course not. Just wondering if you’ll be able to keep up with me if we do move in together. I’m not sure you’re quite up to a younger lover.”
“Hey, I can catch men half my age,” I reminded him.
He stole a quick, sandy kiss. “Prove it, Gramps.”
And off he ran like a rocket.
“Fuck me,” I moaned, then hefted myself up and off the chaise. Winnie flew off my lap and was on his heels in a second, barking furiously, making Trick laugh merrily. He sped towards the little bar with the delicious platters filled with Loco Moco and Saimin, with me and my dog in hot pursuit. He let me catch him as the sun sank lower behind the waves.
“Noah’s dad might know of some nice places for sale near where he lives. Rumor has it he knows people,” Trick whispered after the kiss ended.
“Is that a yes to moving in with me?”
“It’s not a no.”
I chuckled and kissed him once more. Life with Trick was never going to be easy or boring. I couldn’t wait to experience it all with him.
