Fuck, what the hell was wrong with me? I closed my eyes, opened them again, forced myself back to reality.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m ready. Whenever you’re ready.”

Colin slowly withdrew, the massive length of his cock sliding out of me feeling endless…and awful, like he’d become a part of me and some of my insides were being pulled out.

At last he was out all the way, leaving me as open and exposed as I’d feared. I felt hollow and emptied-out, and I had to bite my lip to keep in a pathetic little whimper of loss. Colin made a strangled-sounding noise of his own. “Oh,fuck,” he whispered. “You look—Newt, hand me your jacket. Please.”

I’d left it on the ground after taking it from around the kit, and I passed it over. Colin wrapped it over my hips and ass, quickly, like he couldn’t stand the sight of me. It felt better having the cold air not brushing over my open hole, but…it felt wrong.

“Okay,” he said when he was done, blowing out a long, gusty sigh. “Okay.”

I rolled onto my back, carefully, wincing as the motion put pressure on muscles and flesh that really, really didn’t need any more pressure of any kind.

And for the first time since I’d left him at the car, I saw Colin’s face.

Chapter 14

Out of Context

He looked both shockingly familiar and totally different and new. Like the two Colins I’d seen on the way out here, the one whose face I knew as well as my own and the stranger who was about to fuck me, had merged, and I was seeing him in a way I’d never seen him before. He was himself, with the same dark brown eyes and messy light-brown hair, strong jaw and long nose and all the other features I could’ve traced from memory.

But he was also…pure alpha, with his heavy cock and balls hanging between his thighs as he crouched next to me, and the glow still lingering in his eyes—all powerful muscle and tense strength. He was the alpha whose knot had stretched me open, whose semen was dripping out of me onto my jacket.

I wanted to focus on his face, but my eyes kept returning to his cock.

Even mostly soft it looked big. I licked my lips and looked back up to find Colin’s eyes fixed on my mouth, and starting to glow more brightly again. Gods, maybe I should be taking a blood sample fromhim. Apparently knotting stirred up all kinds of gene expression in alphas, no matter who they were knotting, or why. I could only cross my fingers it’d do the same for me. I was a little disappointed I hadn’t noticed any of that tingling in my fingers or gums this time, but to be fair, I hadn’t been in much of a state to notice anything at all.

“We should get going.”

It took a second, but his gaze moved up and met mine. “Yeah,” he said. “Yeah. Of course.”

He didn’t move. I had another pair of underwear in the backpack, and between those, what remained of my jeans, and the jacket, I ought to be able to cobble together full coverage for the walk to the car and the ride home. Enough that my neighbors wouldn’t call the cops on me when I went from the car to my apartment, anyway. But I wasn’t eager to get everything off, and then most of it back on again, with Colin crouching there and staring at me.

“Give me a minute?”

He blinked at me. “For what?”

“To get dressed?” A little more of his come leaked out of me, and I winced. “And clean up. Clean up and get dressed, in that order.”

He leaned in. “I can clean you up, Newt. Let me—”

“Just give me a minute, please!”

He rocked back like I’d slapped him. “Okay,” he said, very clipped. “I’ll be over there.”

Colin suited the action to the words, pushing to his feet and striding a few yards away, taking up a position with his back to me leaning against a tree.

Getting up, getting wiped down, and getting more or less clothed—emphasis on the less—took longer than I wanted, but every time I glanced over at Colin to look for signs of impatience, he hadn’t moved a muscle. At last I had myself covered, with the clean underwear in place, my jeans pulled back up in the front, and my jacket tied around my waist to cover my ass and hold it all in place.

Colin shifted into a full wolf the second I called out I was done, and we trudged back to the car.

Well, I trudged. He slipped through the forest like a shadow, and I realized that was how he’d ‘surrounded’ me earlier. Bastard had full-shifted and then gone back to half-shift when he wanted to jump me.

So unfair.

Colin went a little ahead of me as we neared the car, and by the time I got there he’d already shifted back and gotten dressed.

And was holding my door open for me.
