“Oh, yeah?”

“Yeah, as long as you don’t cover that sexy body from me ever again.”

I bite my lip, thinking about his earlier words. Every girl I know has insecurities, and I have plenty. But Josh isn’t like that. He really is an Adonis in the bedroom, and adorable everywhere else.

“You keep talking like that, I may never want to let you go,” I muse.

He pauses, and I think I’ve said the wrong thing.Damn it, I shouldn't think out loud.

Josh grips my chin and speaks very clearly. “I don’t want to let you go, Alexis. How do you feel about that?”

I frown. “What do you mean? Like,us?”

“Why not?”

“I could think of a million reasons why.”

One side of his mouth turns up. “List some.”

I take a breath. I’m good at lists, it’s something he’ll get to know if we really are going to date. “We work for opposing realtors.”

“Myth busted when my dad crawled into your boss’s bed. Next.”

I wrinkle my nose. “Thanks for that mental image.”

He grins. “Any time.”

“What about the privacy of our clients?”

He’s so sexy when he murmurs, “I don’t plan on seducing you for pillow talk.”

“You don’t?” My face must look alarmed, because he strokes a knuckle over my cheek.

“Nope, I plan on seducing you for my own greedy benefit.”

“That sounds promising.”

He presses his lips to mine and I suddenly get the termsealed with a kiss. “Oh, it is, don’t ever think I’m not thinking about ways to inflict pleasure on your body, Princess, because lately, that’s all I seem to do.”

Oh, holy crap. I’m so fucked.

“You certainly have a way with words.” I glance down, unable to meet his gaze because I know I want more. So much more, and from what he just said, maybe he does, too.

He tips my chin up. “Talk to me, don’t shy away.”

I take a big breath. Ready to blurt it all out in one fell swoop. “Well, I have no reason to ask for more, and I really shouldn’t. But I really, really like you, Josh, and I have for a while now — you can ask my best friend, Megan, she knows because I tell her everything. And it feels like I should just stop rabbiting because this is only sex, and you’re probably going to run a mile?—”

He places one finger over my mouth. “You’re not going to get rid of me that easily.”

“I’m not?” I squeak.

He shakes his head. “I told you, when I started having thoughts about you, I didn’t want another woman. I didn’t really think I stood a chance with you, to be honest. More like I hoped we’d come together because I was too chicken shit and didn’t know how I’d cope with you rejecting me.”

“Merejectingyou?” I snort. “Josh, you can’t be serious? You’re a freaking walking GQ magazine model. You could have any girl you wanted.”

“And you could have any guy you wanted. There’s something about you, Lex. You don’t notice, but you turn heads whenever you walk into a room. Some people just have a spark that’s so bright, you can’t help but follow in their wake.”

I stare at him dumbfounded.Wow. “Thank you. That’s so sweet and strangely poetic.”
