“Do you need anything?”

I smiled, although my mate couldn’t see it.“No. We have no more appointments for the day. Dr. King said there are only a few pregnancies at the moment, but we all know that can change in a blink. There were several not that long ago.”

I heard chuckling through our bond.“What would you like for supper? It’s probably going to snow a bit this weekend if the forecast is to be believed.”

That was something that Briggs and John would have to enjoy without me. Well, at least without me in my shifted form. I thought about the question and realized that I honestly didn’t have anything that was jumping out at me.“Whatever you andJohn want. I’m not hungry at the moment, and nothing is really hitting me as being needed to be consumed.”

There was more laughter.“Very well. I’m about to leave for the day. Did you want me to stop by and pick you up? Or are you still there for a few more hours?”

I gasped. “Dr. King!” I called out as I got up from my chair. I was hurrying down the hallway when my boss came rushing out of his office with a look of panic on his face.

“What’s wrong? Did something happen?” he asked, his hand glowing green as he reached for me.

“What? No,” I told him. “Sorry. I just got excited,” I said. “Briggs is finished for the day and asked if I wanted him to stop by and pick me up on his way home. Is that all right?” I asked.

Dr. King’s hand stopped glowing, and he gave me a nod. “Yes. Perfectly. And the babies are doing well. They’re sleeping though, so the walk home might help give you some more relief from them pushing out, trying to move around.”

I smiled at my boss. “Thanks so much,” I told him. “I’ll be back Monday morning, bright and early.”

Dr. King grinned. “Have a good weekend.”

I did a little shimmy—well, more like an awkward wobble that would normally be a shimmy if I wasn’t pregnant, but I was, and there was nothing graceful about me anymore.

“When will you be here?”I asked Briggs.

I heard him chuckle.“We’re walking out now, so give me a minute at the most.”

I couldn’t stop grinning while I quickly cleaned up the desk area. I had a step-by-step instruction that was laminated and stuck to the little area by the monitor that told me what steps I needed to take to shut down my computer. It was immensely helpful, in that Dr. King had made it with magic, and it had not only the steps but little pictures. The pictures helped more than anything.

I had my computer shut down and was getting up and ready to go when the door chimed. I looked up, expecting to see Briggs, and there he was. I made a noise that I probably shouldn’t have been able to make, but it brought an eye-twinkling smile to my mate’s face as I hurried across the room toward him.

“I’m glad you’re in such a good mood. How are you feeling?” Briggs asked before he leaned down and kissed me.

“Not terrible,” I responded once the kiss ended. I wanted to deepen it in the worst way, but I held off because we were at the clinic. “I’m ready to go home though.”

“Good. We have a few hours before John will be home, and I thought?—”

I tugged on Briggs’s hand, pulling him back toward the door. “Yes. Absolutely. That’s what I was thinking too,” I said. When we were finally outside and alone, I stopped and looked up at my mate. “You were talking about getting naked, right?” I asked, just to make sure.

Briggs smiled at me. “Yes.” Briggs gave me a look that had me excited. “I’m still all for keeping things in the bedroom, but yes, I was definitely talking about getting naked with you. And then needing a shower after.”

I couldn’t help but be excited. It was great having John living with us, but the fact that John lived with us meant we had to keep sexy times to the bedroom, and at night. No more morning sex because we’d quickly discovered that my brother didn’t sleep in. Nor did he go to bed early. I was certainly going to bring that up with Dr. Brauer, but right now, I really wanted to just get home and get my mate’s knot inside me as quickly as possible. I was a pregnant man who was horny, and it sucked having to be careful and quiet when it came to sexy times.

Briggs chuckled as he let me pull him along with me as we left what had been dubbed “Council Square.” It only took a moment for him to move up beside me, and as we hurried toward ourhouse, I noticed many changes to the scenery. There weren’t too many trees that weren’t evergreens, but there were a few here and there, and they had all turned shades of fall colors.

“Hey, Briggs!”

I groaned as my mate’s name was called out. I did not want to stop and talk to anyone. I wanted to be selfish and get home and get myself some of his amazing sexiness.

“Give me just a few minutes,” Briggs said. I looked up at him and whimpered. “Promise,” he told me.

I nodded, and Briggs hurried back to talk to someone who I was certain was another enforcer. I wasn’t going to throw a fit about it, but it was certainly frustrating that just as we were about to make our “escape,” he was called back to have a conversation.

I felt a sudden warmth surround me, and then there was something that seemed to sparkle all around me. I smiled because I knew exactly what was happening. Well, I didn’t—nobody did. But I wasn’t worried. “Hi. You don’t talk to us, but you like to visit us,” I said as I rubbed my stomach. “Who or whatever you are, are you ever going to tell us?” I knew this was whatever was here on the mountain that was drawn toward pregnant omegas. It had never harmed any of us and didn’t always show up, but on more than one occasion, it had saved an omega from danger. I looked around, saw Briggs still about fifty feet away, and figured it was just saying hello.

I heard what sounded like tinkling in the wind as it swirled around me, and then the wind suddenly died down. The sound of footsteps came up behind me, and I watched as a trail of sparkles moved away until it disappeared in the trees. So that was it, I guess. Just a quick hello.

“See? Not long at all.”
