::Rob! Don’t! Let go!::
:: He hurt the girls. He needs to pay.::
::He will. My uncle will make sure of it. Now let go!::
Rob’s cat… and how strange was that to think… didn’t want to back off. He wanted to taste the man’s blood. His instinct to protect the girls was riding him hard.
::Breathe. You’re in control. Tell your cat to release::
Opening his mouth, Rob let out another yowl and backed off. He fought his basic instincts with every fiber of his humanity. And he was human but holy shit, he wasn’tjusthuman. The man didn’t move once he was freed and a quick glance told Rob that he was out cold. Good.
::He’s not going to go anywhere. I took care of his friends.::
It was so strange to hear Garrett’s voice in his head and could even tell that he was using friends sarcastically. Actually, that might be the most normal thing — hearing Garrett’s voice.
::You need to calm down so your cat will give back control to your human.::
::And just how do you propose I do that?::
Rob didn’t think that the adrenaline in his system was going to fade for decades at this point. He crouched low to the ground as Garrett walked up and rubbed his flank against Rob’s. A feeling of peace and comfort seeped into Rob’s body the more Garrett stroked his body against him. Rob stepped back and laid down on the ground and closed his eyes.
This time he felt the change and it fucking hurt. Rob felt his back twist and the bones in his legs break. They couldn’t really be breaking but it sure seemed like they did. As his fur pulled into his skin, the sensation of bugs crawling made him shake. It seemed to take forever before he was looking at Garrett and the girls through his human eyes.
“Shit,” he muttered before passing out.
