I quickly made my way over to the closet and found the dress Silvia had laid out for the day, throwing on my clothes. I felt the need to add a few extra layers even, with how fast my heart was beating, but decided against it.
Hearing the door open, I spun, ready to chide Krew again, but this time it was Silvia.
“His Royal Highness requested your presence as soon as you are decent,” she informed me.
I felt my cheeks redden.
She nudged me toward the chair in front of the mirror and started braiding my wet hair, how she knew I’d want it since I didn’t have a thing on my schedule for the remainder of the day. “Since when does he request your presence?”
I winced. “Since he walked in here two minutes ago and saw me in a towel?”
Her mouth fell open and her hands stalled in my hair. “Oh.”
“Everything was covered,” I assured her. And also myself.
“Has this... happened before?”
I laughed. “Silvia, no.”
She went back to work on my hair, separating it into sections. “Well really, we should all be surprised it hasn’t happened before now. You share the same lavatory and the same closet.”
She had a point. Though there was at least more than one toilet in Krew’s wing. “Still. I was not prepared for him to just waltz in here like he owns the place.”
Silvia snickered. “Honey, he does own the place.”
I giggled with her. “Okay, good point. Now hurry up and make me beautiful, woman, so I can go see what is soimportant.”
“I know he has sent at least one more woman home,” she whispered.
I thought on that, wondering which woman it was.
“But since he brought you Flora all the way from Nerede and is paying her both for your gown and for her shop being closed for the week while she’s here, I think it’s safe to say you are still going to be here for this next ball and make the final five.”
I couldn’t help but smile.
“There’s also the fact of which you are the only one sleeping with him,” Silvia added nonchalantly.
“Well, yes,” I said, eyes going wide. “But I’m actually just sleeping. Not the other variety.”
She squinted at me through the mirror. “Darling, if you do one, you’ll likely do both. They are linked to one another.”
I groaned. “Silvia, you are scandalous this morning. You and Krew both. What is happening today?”
Silvia shrugged. “Maybe it is you who is feeling scandalous, dear.”
And then with the presumptuous but also somehow excited look on her face, I couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
She soon had me ready in record speed, and I sent her out the door before she said something else that had me blushing.
I found Krew sitting on the couch in his room. One ankle draped lazily across his knee.
I sat down next to him. “Hi.”
“Hi.”
“You requested my presence?”
He slammed his lips together. “Are you properly decent?”
