“Yes. This is she.”

“Hi, Marley. My name is Allison, and I got your number from a friend of mine. I just recently got engaged and would love to talk to you about planning our wedding.”

“Congratulations, Allison. I’d love to talk to you. What day and time were you thinking?”

“Is tomorrow at noon okay? I’d love to meet at my home, but we’re doing some renovations, and it’s a mess.

“Tomorrow at noon is perfect. We can meet at my house. I’ll text you the address.”

“Sounds good. Thank you, Marley. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

I ended the call with a smile. “Yay, me! A wedding.”

Chapter Twenty-Four

Marley

When I arrived home, I saw Charlie’s briefcase in the foyer. Glancing at my watch, it was only four o’clock.

“Charlie?” I shouted.

“In my office.”

I set my bags on the island and went into his office, where he sat on the couch, playing a video game.

“You’re home way early.” I smiled, wrapping my arms around his neck from behind and kissing his cheek.

“I was at a meeting not too far from here, and I figured I could do the rest of my work from home since Olivia threatened me about being late for the party. I didn’t want to take any chances.”

“I’m surprised you didn’t text me and ask where I was.”

“I knew where you were. Did you have fun at Target?”

“Stalker.” I walked around and sat beside him.

“If you were stalking me, you would have known I was home.” A smirk crossed his lips.

“True. I guess it slipped my mind. See, I would only stalk you if you were supposed to be home at a certain time and you weren’t.” I ran my fingers across the back of his head.

“Fuck! This isn’t right.” He scowled, pulling out his phone.

“New game?”

“Yeah. I swear I’m firing Lenny.” He sighed.

“Don’t be a meanie.” I kissed his cheek. “I’m going to change for the party.” I stood up from the couch. “Oh, guess what?”

“What?” His eyes diverted up to me.

“I got a phone call today from a woman named Allison. She’s coming by the penthouse tomorrow at noon to discuss my planning her upcoming nuptials.” I grinned.

“That’s great news. Congratulations, babe.”

“Thank you.”

“Um, one thing,” he said.

“Yes?”
