“Stop playing,” she whined, shoving my shoulder.

“Nah, girl. I fell in love with you because, despite your edgy attitude, I knew you were a good girl who wanted to be loved. You listened to me and cared about what mattered to me. How could I not love you? You tried hard to keep this as a casual fuck, but it wasn’t meant to be. I’m in this with you, and I promise I will never be careless with your heart. How could I be reckless with something that’s a part of me? My heart beats for you and only you, Abril,” I explained as I grabbed her hand and pressed it against my chest.

She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. Tears fringed her eyelashes, and I pulled back, spread her thighs, and feasted on her nectar like I hadn’t just had a full coarse meal.

SIX MONTHS LATER

“That’s tacky, Juju.”

“How you gon’ say my shit tacky. I have good taste in furniture.”

“Yeah, but you like all that dark stuff. Your living room now has brown furniture with red and black accent pillows. Your walls are painted a reddish-orange color. You need to lighten up your life a little bit, baby.”

“I’m not about to put a bunch of black and white and pink shit in my house, Bri.”

“Baby, that’s not what I’m suggesting,” I countered as I waved my hand around the furniture store. “But you have a niceselection to choose from. Don’t limit yourself to what you always do because you’ve always done it.”

“Yeah. Yeah. I hear ya.”

He frowned as he moved away from me. I followed at a little distance behind him.

One thing I had come to learn about July was that he didn’t like sudden changes. He could also be stubborn and inflexible, but I had learned to work with him. I knew when to back up and give him space, because at the same time that he could be all those things, July was a sweetheart. He was warmhearted, generous, and patient with my moody, short-tempered, and impatient ass.

We walked around the furniture store once more before he sat on a taupe and cream sofa. I bit my bottom lip to keep from smiling. That couch was the first one that I suggested when we stepped into the store.

“What do you think about this one, baby?”

“I like it. How do you feel about it?” I asked coyly.

He reached on the side of the couch, pulled the lever, and let out the footrest. I watched as he reclined and propped his hands behind his head.

“How do I look sitting here?”

“You look like you’re waiting for someone to hop on you and take a ride.”

He winked and patted his lap. “Come on, baby. Get on ya man,” he stated with a chuckle.

I looked all around and found that most of the associates were busy with other customers. Those who weren’t were occupied with their phones or talking in small groups. I climbed onto July’s lap and straddled him.

Slowly, he started pumping upward.

“July!” I hissed, smacking his shoulder.

“What?”

“You can’t be acting all nasty and raunchy in these people’s store.”

“What did you think was gon’ happen? You the one jumped ya hot ass up here to ride this dick,” he murmured into my ear.

“Ohh, say that in that deep voice again,” I pleaded as his voice dropped an octave.

He chuckled and wrapped his arms around my waist. I slowly twerked against him, and he whispered to me. “That’s it, baby. Ride ya dick.”

I twerked a little harder, and he smacked me on the ass. Someone cleared their throat behind us, and I felt my face grow warm with shame as my heart squeezed tightly in my chest. I wanted to disappear. I was so damn embarrassed.

“Did you two decide that this is the one you wanted?” the woman named Angel, who was our salesclerk, asked.

“Yeah. I think this one fits our needs perfectly. It seems to hold up under the most compromising situations,” July answered.
