CHAPTER THREE

When I stirred in the middle of the night, I felt a solid body pressed against me. I knew it wasn’t Lauren.

Lucy.

She was in bed with me.

I should have moved her but I pulled her closer instead. She smelled like me but different. Lighter. I liked the way my cologne smelled on her skin. I kept replaying how pissed she got when she found out I had a girlfriend. The way her copper eyes narrowed to slits, the way she stormed off in a fury of brown, wavy hair and attitude, and the way she slammed my damn door like she paid the mortgage.

Lucy got under my skin but she knew she was my world.

I only wish she wasn’t such a damn mess.

She was like a tornado, leaving devastation in her wake and she didn’t look back. Lucy kept going forward, sucking more things into her vortex and spitting them back out, battered. I didn’t blame Nora for putting distance between them.

I wasn’t that strong though.

Lucy turned over and stared at me. In the shroud of darkness, her eyes glowed like a cat. She was gorgeous, even cloaked in shadows.

“Thought you were pissed at me,” I said, grabbing her button nose between my pointer and middle finger. She shrugged and tangled her long legs between mine. My hands found their familiar place on her hips and I cursed under my breath when I didn’t feel any panties.

It was going to be one of those nights.

One of the nights like the countless ones we had when we were younger.

“I am mad at you.” Lucy poked her plump lips out and I jerked my gaze to her eyes instead.

“Not mad enough to stay out of my bed, Hell Raiser.” I gave her hips a squeeze, then slid my hands around to her perfect ass.

“Seems like I’m raising more than hell,” she smiled. Her leg brushed against my cock and it stiffened more. I inched back but not enough to break my hold on her. “Why didn’t you tell me you had a girlfriend, Abel?”

“Because you’re crazy,” I laughed and she hit me in the stomach. “Seriously though, when have I ever had a girlfriend that you liked? When have I ever had one that you treated nicely, Luce?”

“Never, because they’re not good enough for you.” She inched closer to me until her tits were mashed against my chest and I could feel the rigid metal piercing her nipples.

“Whoisgood enough for me?”

“Nobody.”

“That’s what I thought you’d say.” I rubbed her smooth ass and bit her shoulder gently but hard enough to make her gasp.

“Is she pretty?” Lucy asked. I knew what the right answer was, so I gave it to her.

“Not prettier than you.” Thick, brown waves fell over her shoulder and partially in her face. It was true. Nobody was prettier than Lucy. She was a gorgeous mess. Even though Nora looked exactly like her, the difference was in the spark Lucy had in her eyes. It made them glow.

When Mom and Dad brought the girls home from the hospital, I picked Lucy out immediately. They used to try and trick me but one look at my little hell raiser and I knew who was who even if they were dressed alike and doing that weird twin thing where they spoke in unison.

“What’s her name?” Lucy traced my eyebrows with her fingertips.

“Lauren.”

“The bitch from your job? Oh my God, Abel you’re fucking the secretary? That’s so cliché,” she laughed. Lucy’s laughter filled the entire space. It was loud and airy just like her.

“Shut up. She’s a great girl.”

“I want to meet her.”

“You met her today at my office, remember?” I smirked. I hated introducing Lucy to my girlfriends because she was so possessive over me. She knew I could never say no or push her away and it usually ended up pushing my girlfriends away. This time I wanted things to work so I didn’t introduce Lucy to Lauren.
