It didn’t hurt that he was fine as all outdoors either. Not many could walk by that smoky brown skin and coal black eyes. They were so intense they could burn the clothes from your body with one look.
I tried to slide into the booth across from Titan but he shook his head and motioned for me to sit beside him. “Come on, Baby girl. You know where you belong.”
“Your words do things to me,” I confessed as I sat beside him.
“Oh yeah?” He said, leaning close to my ear. “Like what?” he draped his arm across my shoulders and I felt like I was wearing armor. Is that what it felt like to be Titan Devereaux’s girl? How the hell did anyone give up that feeling?
I was on top of the damn world.
“Like making me hot…”
“And what else?” He asked, inching his hand up my dress. I swear, he made me never want to wear pants…or panties again.
“Hot and wet.”
“Tell me where you’re wet. I want to see how dirty your pretty mouth can get.” He dotted slow kisses along my neck in a restaurant full of people with reckless abandon. My chest squeezed.
“You know where,” I squirmed.
“Nah, I don’t. So tell me.” He pulled away and I pushed out a breath. Was it always so hot in that restaurant or did the heat come out of nowhere?” Titan flipped through the menu while I sat beside him ready to combust and rain confetti all over the table.
“I’m listening, baby girl.” Ugh. Those two words. They were my kryptonite.
“Places,” I muttered.
“Like?” I stole glances at his fingers knowing where they’d been and I almost came all over myself.
“You make my pussy wet,” I finally said. A sly grin pulled the corners of Titan’s lips upward and I hid my face behind my palms.
“That wasn’t so hard, was it, darling?” He touched my chin and winked at me.
“Did I ever tell you that I actually liked your gold fronts?” I quizzed. I had to say something to take my mind off the feeling in my heart and the equally intense one in my pussy.
“Why’d you make me take them out then?” He asked.
“I don’t know. I think you were too damn fine with them in. It threw me off. They gave you this edge that made me afraid and in awe all at the same time. It was overwhelming.”
“So you turned all bossy and made me take them out?” He chuckled and put the menu down.
“Yeah. Sorry.”
“It’s cool, Ivy. I’m not even used to wearing them anymore. I feel like once I took them off I became someone different.”
“We really are completely different from the kids we used to be…aren’t we?” I asked, sadness weighing down my words.
“We are. We’ll never be them again. They were happy.”
“They had their mothers,” I sniffed.
“Yeah. That.” His shoulders tensed and I reached up to rub them out of habit. It seemed to be the only way to calm him down. Like my hands had magic in them.
“We’re all we have, Ivy.”
“I know. It’s special in the saddest way,” I nearly whispered.
“Sometimes flowers grow from jagged earth. We have to take it for what it is and move forward even when it gets hard.”
“It’s already hard. I have nightmares, Titan.” I looked up at him and I saw sadness. He brushed my curly hair behind my ear and sighed.
