“I always have. I just kept it inside because being her best friend means so much to me. I don’t want to ruin it by trying to explore something she doesn’t want.”
“I think she wants it too. She might be scared but she loves you. I’ve never even seen y’all apart from each other for more than a weekend.” A sour pang of guilt bounced through me knowing I went two weeks without even checking on her while I was chasing behind Gabi. I didn’t tell Janet about that. She’d take my head off. Especially if she knew it was so I could get a spot at a modeling agency.
“I think I need to talk to her about it but…I don’t know how without looking stupid.” I laid down and stared at the ceiling letting images of Blake play against my mindscape.
“Do something nice for her then ease into it. Blake is so laid back it’ll be fine. Plus, you’ve been friends since you were eight.”
“Something nice. Yeah, I think I know what I’ll do. Thanks, Jay.”
“Let me know how it goes.” I got off the phone with her and called Gabi.
“You ready to talk about us?” She purred into the phone.
“Not exactly. I was wondering if you could do me a favor though,” I said.
“I’m listening.”
“At the end of the month, let Blake into your club.”
Gabi chuckled a little and sighed. “Sure. We’ll do something nice for her. I’m still going to run her around for a few more weeks though. You can’t change that.”
“Okay, okay,” I muttered. “You’ll let her in though?”
“I told you, we’ll do something special for her at the end of the month.” She paused for a moment then said, “So what’s up with me and you, Tae?”
“Nothing right now. I told you I’m enjoying the single life.” I didn’t want to be with Gabi even if it did mean meeting her mother and possibly be represented by Imperial. If I couldn’t have Blake, I’d wait. Gabi wasn’t what I wanted and I couldn’t fake that shit no matter how much I tried.
