CHAPTER SIXTEEN
The kiss was searing, Samuel’s lips warm and soft against hers. Alicia clung to him with trembling hands, fingers tangling in the fabric of his shirt to keep him close to her, the fear that he would soon change his mind and put a quick end to this, threatening to overwhelm her. She still couldn’t read Samuel, couldn’t predict what he would do. Though he seemed to be just attracted to her as she was to him, he always rejected his feelings and along with them, he rejected her.
Would he reject her now, too? Would he pull back from her, going back to his habit of avoiding her?
As much as she wanted to ask that question, to get the reassurance that she so craved, she decided it was best to stay quiet. A part of her already feared she was too childish, too needy, and that was one of the reasons why Samuel was so reluctant to be with her. For now, she would be content with whatever she could get from him, whatever sliver of affection he offered her.
Slowly, almost reverently, his hands blazed a path down her shoulders, her back, her waist, before finally coming to settle on her hips and pulling their bodies flush together. Alicia lost herself in the feel of him, the heat that radiated off him, the solid presence of him against her. When he enveloped her entirely in his arms Alicia melted into the embrace, wrapping her own around his neck as they kissed. It was just like that first time at the lake, his touch just as thrilling, the brush of his lips just as intoxicating, and it felt as though all the air had been drawn out of her lungs, stolen by the unbridled passion Samuel was showing her.
“Tell me tae stop,” Samuel whispered against her lips.
Alicia shook her head. “Nay.”
She never wanted him to stop. She never wanted this moment to end.
With a low, rumbling growl, Samuel twirled her around in his arms, pressing his chest flush against her back. As he kissed her neck, Alicia let her head fall to the side, exposing the sensitive skin there with a moan, surrendering to the pleasure. Maybe he wouldn’t pull away this time, she thought. Maybe he would accept the truth of their mutual feelings.
Hooking the fingers of one hand under her neckline, Samuel tugged at Alicia’s dress until her breasts spilled out of the fabric, nipples quickly hardening in the slight chill of the room. At the sight of them, Samuel groaned and cupped both breasts with hishands, teasing her nipples and sending a jolt of pleasure through Alicia’s body, one that went straight to her core.
Flesh pulsing in anticipation, Alicia ground her hips back against Samuel as she tried to get more stimulation, drawing a chuckle out of him—one that quickly turned into a broken moan when her rear pressed against his manhood. Alicia could feel the hardening length of it as Samuel’s hips bucked as if he could hardly control himself.
She liked the idea of it—that Samuel could want her so intensely, so utterly that he could hardly control himself.
“Please,” Alicia whispered, desperate for more. She didn’t quite know what it was she was begging for, at least until she remembered the first conversation she and Samuel had had on the matter, when he had explained to her what would happen on her wedding night. Turning around, she looked him in the eye and ran her hands down his chest, feeling the toned muscles under them. Her fingers traced the grooves and valleys rippling under his skin, feeling him shudder, and her voice came out as a whisper when she spoke. “Will ye dae what ye described tae me that night?”
It didn’t take long for Samuel to understand what Alicia meant. His gaze darkened as he looked at her, his own hands coming to rest on her waist as he leaned closer and captured her lips in another kiss. As his tongue slipped past them, his fingers gingerly undid the laces of her dress, pulling them apart to loosen it before he began to remove the layers, she wore one by one, until she stood before him entirely nude. Then, he took astep back and simply stared at her, the hunger in his gaze forcing her cheeks to flood with color.
He looked as though he wanted to devour her—and Alicia wanted to be devoured.
Chest heaving, Alicia stood still, letting Samuel take his fill of her. When he fell to his knees in front of her, she gasped, the soft sound turning into a moan as he dragged his tongue up her stomach, leaving a trail of heat in his wake.
Her hands reached for him, her fingers buried in his blonde hair, which seemed to glisten under the candlelight flooding the room. Samuel dragged his cheek over her torso, the slight scruff on his face scraping against her skin in a way that made her breath catch in her throat, and then finally reached her breast, wrapping his lips around her nipple.
The tight heat of his mouth was a shock to Alicia, her back arching to press herself into the touch. She couldn’t help but surrender to the sensations: the caress of his fingers up and down her back, soft like the most luxurious silk, his breath ghosting over her skin, the ends of his hair raising goosebumps on her flesh as they brushed against it. It was all real, after all this time of Alicia desperately wishing and hoping for it, and she could not get enough of Samuel.
Shuffling on his knees on the carpeted floor, Samuel pushed Alicia back until her legs hit the edge of the bed. When she perched herself on the mattress, he wasted no time before hepushed her knees apart, lips grazing over the skin of her thigh as he settled between them.
Samuel looked up at Alicia, their gazes meeting for a long, drawn-out moment. Tongue darting out to wet his lips, he ran his hands over her thighs, forcing a shaky breath out of her.
“Dae ye want me tae kiss ye here?” he asked, gaze dropping to follow the path of his hands.
Alicia nodded wordlessly, spreading her legs just a little wider, though she couldn’t help the shyness that flooded her body when she imagined the sight she must have made. Embarrassment and desire warred within her, each equally strong, but in the end it was desire which won over everything else.
Samuel looked back up at her as he began to scatter kisses on her thighs, soft and tender, the slight scruff on his chin rubbing over them in a way that made her shiver. When he reached the top of her thigh, he paused, fingers reaching out to caress her stomach.
“Here?” he asked, and Alicia nodded once more, breath catching when he exhaled over her mound, but then only kissed her stomach, teasing her.
“Samuel,” she said, tilting her hips in a silent plea. Samuel hummed questioningly, glancing up at her for a moment before he resumed his task, spreading more kisses over her stomach. “Nay there.”
With a chuckle, Samuel pulled back a little, smirking up at Alicia with such a self-satisfied expression on his face that she had half a mind to shove him away. “Where, then?”
