"I'm ready now. I don't want to spend another day without you. Marry me, beauty. Make me the happiest man in this earth."
I can't believe what I'm hearing. I turn around to face him and see that he's very serious about what he's saying.
"You've gone from not wanting to talk about a relationship to asking me to marry you? That's crazy."
"I know, sweetheart, but I promise you, I'm an open book now. Say you'll be mine. That you'll move here and build a family and a future with me."
"You hurt me."
"I'll spend the rest of our lives making it up to you, I promise."
"I should make you suffer."
"Oh, what would you do?"
"I should take sex off the table until we get married."
"Wow, you're so mean. Would you really do that?"
"Maybe."
His head moves forward and his lips touch mine gently. They are warm and soft and mine and I immediately open my mouth to let my tongue frolic with his, just the way I like it.
"You know you're going to have to buy me a ring, right?"
"We'll go tomorrow, then on Sunday I'll fly out with you so I can help you pack."
His words ring true and my heart finally starts to melt once again for him.
"I love you, Lulu."
"Good, because I love you back, Dominic."
Chapter 10
Lulu
The sun is bright, almost blinding me as I look around the sandy beach and all the flowers that have been arranged around where the marriage ceremony was just officiated. Family and friends are laughing and enjoying their time here at the Hot Beach Retreat.
We flew them all here and gave them luxury suites and spa treatments and as many gifts as the wedding planner could think of. It's a bit too extravagant for my taste, but it is the wedding of a lifetime. I watch as my husband approaches me with two glasses of champagne.
He's having to field all the words of congratulation from the people that bar his path to me. He's focused on getting to me, sohe maneuvers around them easily. As he comes closer to me, a smile lights up his face. He looks so handsome and treats me like I'm a princess.
"Finally. I thought I'd never make it to you. Everyone wants to congratulate us."
I take one glass from him and put my hand over his chest. His heart beats underneath it in a steady rhythm. When we make love, it beats so hard and fast that I feel it might explode out of his chest. My god, how I love this man.
"Can I drink this?"
"Not yet. Seth is going to make the speech."
"Oh no."
"It's okay. He's got it."
"You're sure?"
"Yup."
