Eventually, Rhett reached down and toyed with her clit, petting and caressing it with the same slow, unhurried rhythm of their lovemaking. It was all so restrained that it shouldn’t have been building to anything. But it was. At least for her. Her swollen sex fluttered in response to every movement he made. He was undoing her from the inside out, inspiring the deepest, slow-burn desire.
Time stopped, restarted, and stretched to infinity as they let their bodies do all the talking. Rhett moved his hand from her clit and traced the outline of her opening stretched around him. He rubbed her as he slowly fucked her, even slipping a finger inside her along with his cock.
“Give me your hand,” he demanded when she started panting with need. When she obeyed, he wrapped her fingers around his length, making sure she was touching both of them, right where their bodies became one.
“You feel that, beautiful? That’s forever.”
She mewled at his words, so close to coming that she couldn’t think straight. “Stay,” he whispered as he moved his hand higher and pressed softly against her clit. It was that final touch—like the press of a detonator button—that was her undoing. She cried out and pulsed around him as he groaned out his own release. His hand found hers again as they came together, in perfect sync after all this time.
Chapter thirty-seven
Tori
“Goodmorning,”sheyawnedfrom her side of the bed. She knew without cracking one eye open that her husband was already awake, showered, dressed, and working on his laptop. She was probably going to have to start matching his early morning routine once she moved to Virginia and officially joined the nonprofit world. It wasn’t corporate America, but it was something. And it was her something.
“Hey, beautiful. I ordered breakfast, but it’s not here yet. Want me to wake you up when it arrives?”
“No need.” She yawned again as she sat up and stretched her arms overhead. “I’m up. I figured we’d want to get a jump start on the day. We have a lot to do.”
Rhett gave her a timid smile, but took the bait. “I’m not trying to rush into anything, but I would love to know if you’ve figured out a timeline yet. When are you hoping to be in Virginia? By the end of summer, maybe?”
She schooled her expression as she prepared to level with him. It was early April—did he really think that after everything they’d been through, she could wait until the end of summer to move forward?
“I’m ready now.”
The look he gave her was more than skeptical.
“No, really,” she insisted. “As soon as we can schedule movers, I’m ready to go. Everything is packed. I have a few random errands to run in Hampton this week, including picking up all my medical records and getting Penny to the vet for a checkup. I’d love to go up to the cabin and drop off a carload of boxes, but if your parents don’t mind storing them in the garage for a while, that can wait. That’s really all I have left to do. Oh, I hope you don’t mind, but I already called and paid the pet deposit for your building.”
She might as well have whispered a mouthful of dirty talk for the way his eyes lit up in response.
“It sounds like you’ve thought of everything,” he commended.
“What can I say? I learned from the best.” She winked at him just as a knock came through the door.
“That’s our breakfast,” he guessed as he hopped out of bed to answer the door.
“You two better not be fucking again! Let me into my goddamn room!”
Tori clasped her hands over her mouth to hold back a cackle. “Wait—did you order me an angry bisexual backup husband?” she teased as Rhett cracked open the door a few inches, keeping the swing bar in place.
Jake growled in frustration as he rattled the door back and forth. “Come onnnnnn, bro. Let me in or I’m going to call hotel security and tell them I have a squatter. This ismyroom.Myname is on the reservation. And yet I tried to come up here three different times last night, and each and every time I was greeted with a deadbolted door and the sounds of you two having sex.”
Rhett chuckled. “Sorry, bro. Squatter’s rights. Plus, Tori’s naked.”
She peered under the covers in surprise. Oh yeah. She was still naked. They’d been wearing their formal wear before they ravaged each other last night, so there hadn’t been any comfy T-shirts lying around to slip on.
“Baby!” Jake cried through the door. “I know you can hear me! Tell your boy to let me in! I’m tired. I’m hungover. I need a shower and an obscenely overpriced room service pastry basket, stat!”
Rhett craned his neck and gave her a mischievous wink.
“Sorry, Jakey!” she yelled. “Squatter’s rights!”
She heard him curse them out again as Rhett shimmied Jake’s bag through the partially-open door. Rhett was laughing by the time he came back into the bedroom.
“He says we have to Venmo him $3,500 for this room.”
“Worth it.” She shrugged with a satisfied smile. “Where do you think he slept last night?” she asked with another yawn. Hopefully their coffee and room service order would show up soon. And hopefully Jake didn’t intercept it along the way.
