He waited until she got in her car, and he followed her.She didn’t drive back to her apartment, but went straight home. She parked on her mother’s drive, walked in, and he waited several minutes before he headed straight back to the clubhouse.

Ava turned the baconin the pan, stirred the scrambled eggs, quickly grabbed the toast, and spread a thin layer of butter over the surface.
The coffeepot was ready for when Violet and Hazel woke up.She had a drink, and it was a little after eight in the morning.Bernice had her morning toilet break and had eaten her breakfast.Ava had already planned to take her for a walk.
Violet was the first one awake. Her hair was all over the place, and she looked a mess.
“You didn’t remove your makeup last night,” Ava said.
“Do I look like I give a fuck?”
“Your skin will care in years to come,” Ava said.
“You’re a night person and a morning person.I’m a ...leave-me-alone kind of person and give me my morning coffee.”
“You’ve got a bad attitude this morning,” Ava said, quickly pouring her older sister a cup of coffee.
“I got stood up last night and it pissed me off.Do you have any idea what it is like to be in the bar waiting for your date to show, and they don’t?He had the audacity to text me several hours after, and tell me it was not going to work out.”Violet shook her head.“I hate men.”
Ava was not about to tell her sister about the kiss she shared with Pat, or the ride on his bike. She had no idea what she and Pat were doing, if they were even doing anything. All she knew was she felt alive when she was with him.
Violet blew across the surface of her coffee and then frowned. She took a sip and Ava winced, although her sister didn’t even seem to register if she had burnt herself or not.
“You’re here. You’re cooking breakfast. You look way too chirpy.”Violet tilted her head to the side.“What did you do?”
“I didn’t do anything.”
“She didn’t come home at two.In fact, I didn’t even hear her sneak in.So, I’m guessing Bernice was sound asleep, you felt guilty, and decided to stay the night,” Hazel said, entering the kitchen.
Ava looked toward her mom.“Are you upset?”
“I’m upset that you didn’t call to let me know.I was tired last night and a phone call would have sufficed.”
“I know.I’m sorry.I wasn’t thinking.”
Violet tutted.“Not thinking—that can only mean one thing. There is a boy involved.”
She glared at her sister, and she didn’t find it funny at all.
“Shut up, Violet.”
“And with that kind of attitude, I’m going to guess it is a certain biker.”Violet pursed her lips.“I just have to wonder who that could be.”
There was no point in fighting with her sister.
“You were out with a Chaos and Carnage member last night?”Hazel asked.
There was a tone her mother had used, one Ava had never heard before. She wasn’t sure if she was angry, disappointed, frustrated, or a mixture of all three. All she knew was she didn’t like it.
“We just went for a ride. That’s all.It wasn’t anything long.”She didn’t tell her mother or her sister about the kiss they shared.“And I made eggs and bacon.”
“Guilt breakfast,” Violet said.
She glared at her sister. This was not funny. She wasn’t used to feeling this way.Boys never made her do stupid things.
“Are you okay?”
