“Is your next hit the club?”Pat asked.

“No, not yet.The cartel has me taking care of unfinished business right now.”

Pat smiled.“And you’re your own man?”

Solomon took aim, but Pat was already there, and he fired his gun, hitting him right between the eyes.Just as he fired his weapon, Grant was there.

“You knew him?”Grant asked.

“Served with him in the army,” Pat said.“He was ...a good man.”

“I guess he’s not anymore,” Grant said.

Pat moved closer and crouched down, looking into the past.He reached out and slowly lowered the man’s eyes, sending up a prayer. He had become the enemy, but he hadn’t always been the enemy.

After he paid his respects, he searched Solomon, locating a book, along with a cell phone.Pat pocketed them, then made his way out of the old warehouse building.Dead bodies, and problem buildings.

“We need to burn them.”

Pat, Rip, Grant, and Bud got to work dealing with the bodies.

Ava stepped out intothe cold night, and sure enough, there was Pat.He already had collected Bernice from her mother’s, and she couldn’t help but smile as she went straight to his arms. She felt him pressing his face against her neck.

“I missed you,” she said.

“How was work?”

“It was normal, I guess.Kind of slow, actually.”

He kissed her neck, then pulled back.“Come on, let’s get you home.”

He opened the passenger side of his car, and she climbed in but quickly reached out to stroke Bernice, who nuzzled her hand. She loved her dog so much, and she missed her.

Securing her seat belt before Pat had time to, he was already turning over the ignition and taking them back to her apartment.

Pat wasn’t kidding when he said he didn’t have a place. He lived at the clubhouse, which was totally fine with her.Her mother wasn’t too happy about it, but Ava didn’t mind. She liked her apartment.

The moment they arrived, like several times before, Pat parked his car, grabbed Bernice, and carried her to the elevator. They were silent as they got to her floor, and once they stepped off, Ava got out her keys, opened the door, and just as she finished locking it, Pat was there.

She loved when he pushed her against the door, holding her in place as he ravished her mouth.Sometimes, he started out gentle and worked his way toward this hard, breathless kiss.Tonight, he went straight in, and Ava loved it, running her hands up his body, circling them around the back of his neck.

He gripped her waist tightly and growled against her lips.“I don’t want to go gentle tonight.”

“Then don’t.”

“I don’t want you to be afraid of me.”

Ava cupped his face and stared into his eyes.“I am not, nor will I ever be afraid of you.Trust me, Pat.Please.”

He didn’t move, and she had to wonder if he was even breathing at one point.

Then, he gripped her waist, and without a warning he spun her around. She was pressed against the hard wood of the door.He gripped her hair, pulling it out of the way as he kissed her neck.Only, he wasn’t too gentle as he suddenly nipped at her tender flesh. She let out a moan.He growled against her neck, then moved her into position, putting her hands flat on the door.

She wore her uniform, as she didn’t have time to change tonight.Ava had also opted for a pair of tights.Pat took care of them with ease as he grabbed them and tore them right off her body, surprising her with his strong grip. The skirt of her uniform was pushed up over her ass, and she let out a startled yelp, as within seconds her panties were gone, and he gave her ass a swat.It didn’t hurt, but it did startle her.

“You have an amazing ass,” he said.
