“Grandma!”

“So, you’re awake?” Maggie stated, grateful she held her voice under control. She had been in the hall ever since Patch had begun describing Ronnie’s injuries. It took everything she had not to rush in, grab her granddaughter, and never let her go.

“Hostage?” Patch frowned as he stood and went over to bend down, and kissed Maggie’s cheek.

“A week before she was injured, my granddaughter held someone hostage at her place of employment.”

“Grandma! It was only for four minutes and forty-eight seconds.” She looked outraged, then she turned a bright red, when she admitted, “He got his revenge, or whatever, but I don’t think it was revenge.”

“What happened?” Maggie tried to sound stern, but she saw something was up from her granddaughter’s expression.

“He kissed me. Said it was the least I could do to kiss him, since I delayed him for all that time.” She smirked and laughed at the doctor and Maggie’s expressions.

“Damn, I’m going to have to call him and harass him about that.” Patch laughed.

“You know my hostage?”

“I do.” Patch laughed. He ended up pulling out his personal phone and accessed the pictures. “Was this the guy?” He turned the phone and Ronnie saw her hostage, the doctor, and the beautiful dog.

“Major? You know Major?”

“I do. He was in the service with us. This is Finn.” He indicated her hostage.

“Finn? Is it short for something?”

“Finnegan,” Patch said, and noticed that Maggie along with himself didn’t say his last name.

“I’m going to have to thank him next time I see him.” She sighed and settled back.

“I’ll let you go so you can rest.”

“Doctor?” Ronnie called before he reached the door.

“Yes?”

“Who’s going to discharge me?”

“I will. Why?”

“Could you write a prescription for one of those motorized carts? I obviously can’t use a cane or crutches, but I can get around campus on one of those, right?”

“I don’t see why not. You won’t be restricted to bed rest, but I’m going to caution you now, and again when I discharge you. Don’t overdo it. If you’re tired, rest.” He left and Maggie sat on the side of the bed.

“How do you feel?”

“Good, but thirsty.” She watched as her Grandmother poured her some water. After she sat back down she couldn’t take her eyes off her.

“You scared the hell out of me and your grandfather, young lady.”

“I know, I think I scared the hell out of me too.” She gripped Maggie’s hand tightly. “Have you called Grandpa yet? I’m assuming he’s back on the ranch?”

“He is, but I think you should call him.”

“Okay,” Ronnie said, and took Maggie’s cell phone and dialed.

“Pennyworth.” Came the gruff voice over the phone.
