“Do you have time?”
“I’ll make time,” Ronnie grinned as she sat back on the couch and propped her feet on the table before her. “Talk.”
Laughing, Lorna joined her. “So, I went out to dinner by myself on the day I found out I would be filling Janis’ position. On the way back to my car, I heard loud music, I walked two blocks over to check it out.”
“And?”
“And it was a new nightclub. In a nutshell, I met someone, and we hooked up that night. We went back to his hotel room.” She grinned at the shock on Ronnie’s face. “I left in the middle of the night. Best sex ever!” Lorna laughed. “Then, the very next day, with Mother gone, I moved in here. Let me tell you, I was riding on a high that weekend. After leaving Andy in his hotel room, I didn’t go to sleep. I’d been up from five Friday morning, and didn’t crash until around midnight Saturday night. In all that time, I worked, went to dinner by myself, went to the club, met a man, had terrific sex, went home, found out Mother had left, then packed my crap, and moved in here. Thank God Murphy, Annie, and Lori all helped me move in and unpack. By the time they left, this was all set up.” She moved her arm to indicate the apartment.
“Wow, so you only hooked up with him that one night?”
“Nope.” Lorna grinned at her friend. She pointed over her shoulder and grinned.
“What?”
“He lives next door.”
“Oh, my god, no way.”
“Way. We hooked up again two weeks later, then again last night.”
“Damn girl. So, if you need a booty call, you only have to knock on the wall?”
Lorna laughed. “I don’t know if that’s the case, but basically, yeah... But,” she held up her hand when Ronnie went to say something. “I’m scared.”
“Why? Would he hurt you?”
“NO!Nothing like that. I’m scared about me.”
“Explain, you’re not making any sense.”
“I’m falling in love with him.”
“Oh, shit.”
“Yeah,” Ronnie whispered as she looked out the window at the setting sun. Both were lost in their thoughts for a long time.

“Ball Buster!” Finn laughed as he walked into a local bar and saw his former Marine teammate sitting at a table, with two beers before him. Finn sat down and shook Andy’s hand.
After shaking Finn’s hand, Andy laughed. “God, I haven’t heard that name in years. How you been, Finn?”
“Good, damn good.” He grinned and Andy frowned at him.
“Talk to me.”
“Well, you knew that I was supposed to work for the family when I got out, right?”
“Yes, how did that work?”
“I started last August, Grandpa retired at the first of the year, and Dad moved up to his position, I moved into Dad’s. It’s working better than I ever thought it would. Didn’t think I could ever settle behind a desk, but it’s working.”
“Good for you. What about your personal life? Seeing anyone?”
“I’m engaged.” Finn grinned and told him all about his fiancée. “Enough about me. What about you? It actually surprised me when I got your call. I thought you were heading back to California to work in your family’s store. Didn’t they have something to do with Organic and Natural Foods or something?”
“Or something,” Andy grinned. “I have to admit, when I saw them just last week, it surprised me how much business they actually do. All my siblings were there, and it was a great time. I’m not saying I’ll quit what I’m doing now and head out and help, but it’s nice to know that they’re not as wacky as I thought.” Andy shook his head, then grinned at this former commanding officer. “Unless you don’t consider selling legal marijuana wacky.”
