My jaw clenched. “You’re mad. I get that. I even deserved that hit, but you’re pissing me off by talking about me and your sister like that.”
He laughed. “You’re pissed?”
He lunged at me again, but I moved out of the way. “I don’t want to fight you.”
“Too fucking bad.”
He threw his arm back to swing, and I ducked out of the way. Valentino and I were pretty evenly matched. And we sparred with each other enough times that we knew each other’s fighting style.
But anger made him sloppy, and I saw his next swing coming a mile away. I caught his wrist and twisted, using his momentum to spin him around and slam him against the side of his car.
“I said I don’t want to fight you,” I growled against his ear, pinning him there. “But I will if you keep this shit up.”
He struggled against my hold, his muscles straining. “Get the fuck off me.”
“Listen to me,” I said, loosening my grip on him. He pulled away from me and pushed me off him. I stood there, watching him.
“It’s not just fucking. I didn’t turn my sights on Isa because I was bored. And I’m not going to hurt her.”
“How the fuck would I know that? You kept this from me. How long has this been going on?”
“A few weeks now.”
“A few weeks,” he muttered. “And how long until you get bored with her? How long until you break her heart?”
I scowled at him. “I’m not going to get bored with her.”
“How the fuck do I know that? You can have any woman you want. Hell, Chiara was practically throwing herself at you.”
“I didn’t know she was going to kiss me?—”
He held up his hand, silencing me. “I don’t fucking care about that. I only care about my sister, and I know you. You’re not the settling-down type. You took my sister’s virginity, and you get to leave and move on with the next person. But Isa? She loves you. Has loved you since she was a teenager. She’s not going to get over this?—”
I punched him in the face. Blood dripped from his busted lip, and he glared at me.
“I’m not leaving. Get it through your fucking thick skull.”
He shook his head. “Do you love her?”
Fucking hell.
“That’s none of your fucking business.”
He straightened. “That’s my answer then.”
“I fucking love her, you bastard.”
I loved her with everything in me. I tried to deny it. Tried to tell myself it was too soon, even if I had never felt this level of intensity with anyone before. And I didn’t want the first time I admitted that to be to her fucking brother.
My confession shocked him into silence.
“I’m going to marry her one day, with or without your blessing.”
“Fuck me,” he finally gasped out. “You’re serious.”
“Deadly. I’m sorry I kept it from you. But I’m not sorry for being with her. I can never be sorry about that.”
And wasn’t that the truth? Having her in my life like this was a fucking blessing. I didn’t plan on taking it for granted for even a second.
