He looked down at it, then at me, and lifted a brow.
I growled, “It’s Laurie Turner. Kenton’s wife.”
His eyes widened, and yep, I watched it.
His face went pale.
Sucker.
Carefully, he took the phone from my hand and then put the phone to his ear, “Uh, yes.”
He stuttered, “Yes. Yes, ma’am.”
I stood there with my arms crossed.
His jaw dropped, then he snapped it shut, “Yes, ma’am.”
He hung up the phone, then handed it to me, and then he said something into his mic.
“Tell Duke that Cassie is here to see him.” He said.
Then he looked at me, “My deepest apologies, Ms. Cassie.”
I sighed, “It’s alright. I probably would have throat punched me by now if I were you.”
He winked, “Nah, was raised better than that. But had you been Ms. Laurie, she would have throat punched me the moment I didn’t do what she wanted the first time.”
I snickered.
He was totally right.
Just then, the door opened, and there Duke stood.
He moved to me, tagged my elbow, and led me away from prying eyes and ears.
The moment we were around the corner, he said, “Talk to me.”
I did.
I relayed what had been said.
He nodded, then pulled out his phone and texted someone.
A few seconds later, it beeped.
And then... Duke Hastings smiled.
And it wasn’t a good smile.
Oh no.
Hell was coming for the assholes who had captured Alec.
