Shaking my head, I hop in the shower and wash all the sweat of last night’s events from my body, sighing as the warmth washes over me. I reach for my favorite raspberry shampoo and lather my hands before massaging it into my hair.

After the well deserved shower, I throw on a black tank top and some sweat pants to cover up the marks he left before making my way out of the room.

“Hey, sleepy head,” Hannah says with her back turned to me as she pours herself a cup of coffee.

“Morning,” I say, before reaching for a piece of toast on the counter.

“Are you okay?” She suddenly asks, making me frown.

“Um, yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?”

“Jason told me what happened last night, you know, with Austin.” Oh. Right. That completely slipped my mind last night when I was being devoured by death himself.

“Oh, yeah, I’m fine. I’m done with that asshole.” I state and she chuckles.

“Good. Oh, where’d your friend go? What’s his name?” She asks, and just the thought of him has a warmth spreading through my stomach.

“Vex. He—um, he brought me home and then left.” I say, avoiding eye contact as I take another bite of the toast.

“Oh, that’s nice of him. He said you guys were childhood friends. Why haven’t you mentioned him before?”

I froze. What am I supposed to say? I can’t exactly tell her the truth. And I can’t lie and tell her that he wasn’t important enough to mention—because he was. He was one of the most important people in my life. Hell, besides my parents, he was the only person in my life back then.

I finish chewing and swallow the toasted bread down with a sip of coffee before turning to her, “It was long before you and I met. And he…moved away. So, I didn’t think it was that important.” I lie anyway, giving her a smile before downing the rest of my cup.

She hums before finishing her coffee and grabbing her bag, “I have to meet up with Jason. He needs to pick up his new jersey for this weekend’s game. You wanna tag along?”

“Nope. Austin will probably be there, and if I see his face, I might do something that’ll land me in jail.” I state.

She laughs before giving me a small wave and exit out the apartment. To be honest, I’m not sure what I’ll do if I see that prick. He probably has a gazillion excuses to why he did what he did, but I honestly have zero fucks to give.

I need to try and get some writing done today, but I’ve had the biggest writers block in human history. I haven’t written anything merely good in over two months. And with Vex being back in my life, it hasn’t exactly gotten any better, in fact—it just got a lot worse.

Sighing, I rub my hands together and walk back to my room, pulling out the desk chair and plopping down. I open my laptop and open my writing app.

I stared at a blank page for almost twenty minutes now before an idea hit me like a train. I quickly grab my diaries and slowly swipe through the pages. A smile pulls at my lips as I re-read every page, “Thanks for the idea, Vex.”

Writing a erotic romance about the Grim Reaper is not a bad idea—in fact, who wouldn’t want to read about all the nasty and delicious things a almost seven foot, sexy, dark-haired and sex deprived angel of death can do?

I chuckle to myself as my fingers skim across the keys. One thing is for sure, I will throw myself off a bridge ifheever sees this.

I stare into my cup of coffee, watching the brown and white hues mix together as I stir the hot liquid. It’s been three days since I last saw Vex.

After that night in my bedroom, he disappeared like always, and I’ve not seen him since. What if he realized that things went too far? Maybe it did. I don’t know how to feel or what to think anymore.

He’s edged in my brain, consuming every part of my mind. I think I’m going fucking insane. How fucked up would it be if one day I just wake up and everything was just a dream? Ugh.

“It’s great that you started writing again. Do you mind telling me what it’s about?” Hannah says, breaking me out of my trance.

I lift my eyes and she wiggles her eyebrows causing me to let out a dry chuckle. She came home early that day I started writing again and she almost tackled me out of excitement. She’s my biggest fan and I adore her support more than anything.

“Well, it’s a story about, uh—the Grim Reaper, I guess,” I say nervously.

“Oh, let me guess. That friend, Vex.”

My stomach drops as I snap my gaze to her. She can’t know, could she? Oh fuck. Please.

“Um, what do you mean?”
