We make the quick trip back to our room to change and within the hour, we're seated in one of the resort restaurants to grab a bite to eat before hitting the club.
I went for casual, in a pair of board shorts and a short-sleeved button down, but Blue went full on man eater in a white dress that barely covers her ass and hugs her like a second skin. She looks good and she knows it.
"What are you in the mood for?" she asks, perusing the menu.
My immediate response isyou, but I know that isn't what she's asking. "The mahi-mahi sounds good."
"Mmm. It does."
We order and both opt for water after drinking most of the day.
"So, what do you do?"
"For work?" I clarify.
"Yeah, for work."
"I'm a trainer and just opened a new gym."
She snorts out a laugh. "That explains so much."
"Like what?" I ask, wholly expecting some kind of meathead joke.
"Your body is unbelievable. You're literally built like a Greek God."
I preen under her praise. "Glad you noticed." I wink. "What about you?"
"Graphic design."
"Nice. Maybe I could hire you for some stuff for the gym."
Her gaze darkens. "Don't do that."
"What?"
"Don't try to make this more than it is."
"I'm not making it into anything. I've been through countless portfolios and nothing is meeting my expectations. I saidmaybeI could hire you. I'm not making any promises, but if your work meets what I'm looking for, I'm not opposed to the idea. Okay?"
She nods. "Yeah, sorry. Okay."
"What do you do for fun?" I ask, wanting to bring back the light mood from moments ago.
"Surf. Hang out with my best friend Thea and her boyfriend Dane when they're in town. Read." She laughs. "Wow, I sound really lame."
"Nah. I mean, come on, if you'd have asked me, I would have said work out." I give her a pointed look and she laughs again, and the sound of it curls around me, clinging to my skin like smoke from a bonfire.
"What else though?"
"I like those massive Lego kits, the architecture ones. I plan on starting the Colosseum when I get home. It seems lame, but it is tedious and...I don't know...I like it."
"At least you didn't say puzzles."
I grin. "I like those too." Maybe that's why I'm so into her; she's a bit of a puzzle and I absolutely want to see how all of her pieces fit together.
"You would. Okay...favorite band?"
"Just one?" I clutch my heart like I'm in pain.
