And I had a weird feeling I'd be the one to cause that change.

Rose had grown like a weed the past two months, and after getting the exact date of her birth from the hospital she was born at, Gwen had thrown herself into planning the best first birthday party ever...or at least that was how she described it.

We'd been spending nearly every moment together since Gwen had moved back in. Rose's birthday was next month, and while that occupied most of Gwen's free time, something else had been keeping her on edge lately. Nayeli was set to give birth at any time, and the three other girls were on high alert. Gwen was checking her phone constantly, even waking up in the middle of the night to make sure her friend hadn't gone into labor.

Being nine months pregnant hadn't stopped Nayeli from coming to the house and spending time with Gwen, though. She, Kiera, and Rhie had helped Gwen make what had previously been my home into something that suited both of us. There were little touches of my mate everywhere, from new wall colors to framed pictures of her friends, and, of course, Rose.

It would have been a little annoying to have so many women in the house at all times, but it made me happy to see Gwen with her friends, in her element.

That night, though, Gwen was alone, resting on the couch and watching something on television, only half payingattention as she wrote more party ideas in the little notebook she'd dedicated to my daughter's first birthday.

She looked so peaceful and content, there in the blue glow of the television, her legs tucked up under her and her chocolatey hair piled on top of her head in a messy bun. Love for her burned inside of me like wildfire, and I suddenly thought, 'To hell with waiting for the perfect moment.'

The quiet slice of domestic bliss I was experiencing was the perfect moment. Gwen made almost every day the perfect moment, and I was done waiting.

I had everything I needed to propose right there in my pocket. I'd been carrying it around for days, waiting for the right time, but I'd learned my lesson. The perfect moment was wherever Gwen was.

“Gwen,” I said, and she looked up at me, her eyes softening with a smile.

“Hi, Joe,” she replied, putting the notebook and pen down on the table. “What's up? Did Rose go to bed alright?”

“Yeah. She just wanted to be rocked to sleep,” I said, sitting down next to her. My heart was pounding hard in my chest, and I wondered if she could sense my nervousness through our bond. “I wanted to talk to you about something.”

“Okay,” she said, sitting up straighter. She grabbed a pillow and clutched it to her chest, looking at me intently. “What is it?”

“I love you,” I told her, and her lips twitched into a smile. “ I knew that the moment I saw you that I wanted you to be mine, but I let fear get in the way and almost lost you.”

She shook her head, reaching out to grab my hand. “You never lost me. I love you, Joe.”

I squeezed her fingers gently, holding her gaze. “I know. You've shown me that. You showed me with your body, your mind, your heart, and your soul. You're my everything, and I want to spend the rest of my life showing you how much you mean to me. I want to prove that I'm worthy of your love, and to give you the life you deserve.”

“Joe...”

I released her hand and reached into my pocket, pulling out a small velvet box. Gwen's eyes widened, and I realized that she was holding her breath as I opened the box. The ring was a princess-cut diamond on a gold band, and it sparkled in the low light. “Will you marry me, Gwen?”

Her eyes welled with tears, and she launched herself into my arms. I caught her, falling back onto the couch cushions with a laugh, and she kissed me. “Yes,” she said between kisses. “Yes, yes, yes.”

I pulled back long enough to slip the ring onto her finger, and she stared at it in awe for a moment before kissing me again, harder this time. Her tongue slipped between my lips, and I groaned, wrapping my arms around her.

When we broke apart, we were both panting. She looked up at me from beneath her eyelashes, her cheeks flushed with desire. “Is it cliche if I say I want you right now?”

“Maybe,” I grinned, my cock already hardening at her words. “But I feel the same way.”

Gwen slid her hand under my shirt, and I shuddered at the touch of her soft fingers. “I can tell,” she teased.

I reached up to cup her cheek, and she turned her face into my hand, brushing her lips against my palm. She met myeyes again, her gaze burning with desire. “What do you want, Gwen?”

“I want you to claim me,” she whispered. “I want you to make me yours.”

I groaned, pushing her hair back from her neck and leaning in to kiss the delicate skin there. She smelled like heaven, and her pulse quickened under my lips. “Youaremine, Omega. Forever.”

I slid my hands up her thighs, and she shuddered against me. Her lips found mine again, and we kissed hungrily, our tongues meeting and exploring one another. I had been patient with Gwen since we'd gotten together, letting her take things at her own pace, but I knew how much she wanted me. I could smell her arousal whenever I touched her, and it drove me wild.

My hands continued up, sliding beneath her shirt, and I pulled away from her long enough to remove the offending garment. She was wearing a pale pink bra that barely contained her breasts, and I growled, moving to kiss her chest. She arched her back as I pushed down the fabric of her bra, revealing her pert pink nipple, and sucked it into my mouth.

Gwen sighed softly, running her fingers through my hair, and I gently bit down on the sensitive flesh. She gasped, her grip tightening, and I slid one hand around her back, easily unhooking the clasp of her bra and tossing it aside.

I pulled her back against me, cupping her bare breast and teasing her nipple with my tongue. Gwen squirmed in my lap, and I could feel the heat of her pussy, even through her jeans and my own.
