And now, I didn'twantto stop. What I wanted was to go full steam ahead, parental baggage be damned.

It wasmyturn to whisper intohisear. "Just so you know, we couldbothbe lucky if we found a place to be alone."

Chapter 28

Drake

Gwen's words went straight to my groin, and it was all I could to not moan into her hair.Lucky indeed.

I pulled back to stare into her eyes. They brimmed with naked desire as her lips parted and then closed again, as if she'd just reconsidered what she'd been planning to say.

Her suggestion – did she want to take it back?

If she did, I needed to know. "You realize you've got to say it, right?"

"Say what?"

"Whatever you just stopped yourself from saying."

"Well…" She gave a self-conscious laugh. "It wasn't a statement. Really, it was more of a question."

"Which was…?"

"Well…," she said again. "I know that when we first met, you said that I wasn't your type. And I was just wondering if you still felt that way, like maybe that's the reason we haven't been, you know, jumping into bed."

At the thought of jumping into bed withher, I almost groaned out loud. "Trust me. That's not it." I gave her a serious look. "And I'm pretty sure I told you that."

"I know," she said. "But I guess I just figured that with how things are goingnow, you'd be, well, ready to take the next step."

I wasmorethan ready.

If she hadn't pulled back, she would've felt my readiness pressing against her hip.I wanted her.

No doubt ofthat.

Even so, a voice in my head reminded me that I'd been determined to wait until she seemed more than ready.

No worries.

No secrets.

And no regrets.

But from the look in her eyesnow, she was far from worried, and she would only regret it if I turned her down.

I was still wrestling with my self-control when she said in a low, earnest voice, "You don't think I'm a virgin, do you? Because I’m totally not." And then, as if catching herself, she added, "I mean, it's not like I get around or anything, but Ihavebeen with other guys before."

Her words hit home – not because I'd thought she was a virgin, but because the thought of Gwen with another guy, well, I didn't like it.

I studied her face. "Tell me something."

"What?"

"Tomorrow morning, after the dust clears, how are you gonna feel?"

With a mischievous smile, she replied, "Well, I guess that depends on you, doesn't it?"
