He looked so boyish, I almost laughed. "And how about Courtney? Did you ever see her again?"

"Yup."

I gave a low whistle. "Wow, I betshewas sorry."

"You might say that." Drake gave the yearbook another glance. "I'm home for the summer break after my freshman year at college, and I run into her at the local park. It takes her a full minute to recognize me, but when she does, she starts making noises about us getting back together, reliving old times, stuff like that."

"Sodidyou?"

"Nope. Turned her down flat."

I smiled. "Good. So was that the last time you saw her?"

"Not quite." He grimaced. "Later that week, she shows up at the house with a dozen roses."

My hands flew to my lips. "Oh, my God. Soshewas the girl who showed up with flowers?"

Drake nodded. "That's the one."

I could totally see it, and I practically growled, "IknewI hated her."

Drake reached for my hand. "You wanna know whatIknow?"

"What?"

His gaze locked on mine. "I love you."

I blinked. "You do? I mean, oh gosh, I love you, too, Drake." I paused. "Wait, do you want me to call you Murphy?"

He laughed. "I don't carewhatyou call me as long as you're mine." His laughter faded as he searched my face. "Are you?"

I gave a happy nod. "Definitely."

And then, we fell into each other arms and kissed like crazy until a hard thud sounded from somewhere in the kitchen.

When I pulled back, Drake said with a smile, "Salt shaker." And then, he moved forward to kiss me again. And again.

Soon, everything else faded to oblivion as I lost myself to his kisses and the realization that he was truly mine.

AndIwas his.

How crazy was that?

Chapter 51

Drake

At her aunt's place, Gwen was practically dragging me through the front door – pulling mein, not out, as Cash scampered along beside us, looking excited to be back.

Already, he'd had one heck of a morning. Dog or not, he was still smiling from his earlier car ride and a bellyful of biscuit. Add in a nice snowy walk and some expert scratching from Gwen, and he looked nearly giddy with joy.

When I removed his leash, he bolted into the house so fast it, you'd think the place was made of bacon.

Oh, yeah. He was riding high alright.

And he wasn't the only one.

After Gwen and I had sorted things out atmyplace, she'd insisted on both of us returning here so she could tell her cousins that she and I were together.
