“I don’t think you understand how very much in love with you I am,” I whispered, cinching her tightly against my body. “You are my entire world, Rosie.”

She cradled my face as we gazed into one another’s eyes.

“Promise? Forever?” she whispered back.

“And beyond,” I answered, my lips descending on hers.

And I meant that.

Forever and beyond. For always and ever. No matter the cost. Even if it meant just us against this dark, twisted world.

The scent of eggs, bacon, and waffles greeted me as I came downstairs the following morning. My stomach rumbled as I slid onto a stool at the kitchen island and watched Rosalie make breakfast. I smiled at her when she turned to face me, a plate in her hand laden with delicious food.

She slid it in front of me and kissed my lips.

“You’re too good to me,” I said, continuing to watch her fix her own plate.

She took a seat next to me and kissed me again.

“I got up early to make you something,” she said.

“You didn’t have to, babe.”

“I know what it’s like to sit in a hospital. I wanted you to go in with a full belly.” She squeezed my hand, and we ate in silence for several minutes before she pointed to a bag on the counter.

“I made some cookies. Take them with you, OK? I’m sure Cole will start eating his arm soon if he doesn’t have something besides hospital food.”

“He call you?” I asked, knowing he was eager to get the hell out of there. Hospitals were hard on everyone.

She nodded. “This morning. Also sent me a picture.” She opened her phone and showed me a picture of Cole’s dick on the screen.

I snorted and shook my head. He was in a bathroom stall. He really needed a damn filter.

“So make sure he gets the bag.”

“I will.” I scooped the last of my eggs into my mouth and looked at my watch. I needed to get out of there and back to the hospital. “Is Anson on his way?”

“Yeah—”

The doorbell rang, signaling his arrival. I got up and went to answer it to find him looking exhausted. Dark circles ringed his blue eyes, and his usually styled hair was messy.

“You look like hell,” I said.

“Late night,” he mumbled, stepping into the house. He closed the door behind him and rubbed his eyes.

“What were you doing?”

He shrugged. “Out with Ryder.”

“Bar?”

He nodded. “Bar. Food. Strip clubs. I think an ATM at some point. More food. Another club.”

“You’re hitting up strip clubs?” I frowned at the information.

“Trying to keep the local economy going,” he muttered. “I wasn’t there for the girls. Just looking for someone to help me out with something.”

“Your dick?” I raised my brows at him, making him snort.
