“Ah, Miles!” I laugh loudly. Will stops short on his walk to the field.
“Hey, Miles, quit making my girl laugh! That’s my job.”
“Not for forever!” Miles yells back, and now I’m laughing harder.
Will just shakes his head as he walks out on the field, and I try to regain my composure.
“That was a good one, bud.”
Miles bounces in the chair next to me. “It’s all a part of my plan.”
After the game, I return my Casanova back to his dad as he walks out of the locker room.
“Thanks again for helping, Callie.” Dex sighs. “I swear I’m going to find someone to help. I’ve just been trying figure out schooling and with travel?—”
“Dex, it’s fine.” I cut him off. “As I’ve told you before, I don't mind helping. You’ll find someone soon, but until then, we’re good. So stop worrying about it on my end.”
“Okay.” Dex nods, but I can see the stress all over his face. “Will said he’ll be out soon. We’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
I give Miles a quick hug. “Yup, bright and early.”
We played at home all this week, but tomorrow we fly down to Georgia for a week's worth of games. Wyla and Jett said they would come to at least one, so I’m pretty excited about that, but then we fly out to San Francisco next.
Shannon makes her way down the hallway, and while we aren’t exactly best friends, thanks to Will’s chat with her, we’re at least on common ground. “Oh, Callie! TheBoston Timesis working on a blog post for how great of a season we are having so far and requested a couple pictures that you’ve taken. They have specific ones in mind.”
This has definitely been one of my favorite parts about this job. Other photographers come to the games for pictures, but no one quite captures the Blues like I do.
“That’s not a problem. If you can email me the list, I will get started on that the moment our plane takes off.”
Shannon’s smile twitches for just a moment. I know she’s actively trying not to tell me to do them tonight. One thing that I’ve worked hard on since Will and I made it official with the team is work boundaries. “Okay, thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” I beam as I step around her and walk to the person I’ve been waiting on.
Will smiles the moment he sees me heading his way and even though my brother is talking to him about something, he steps toward me and kisses my forehead. “Hey, Blaze.”
Adam sighs next to me. “Well, I guess I’m done talking.”
My brother might sound and look irritated, but I know he’s not. He’s been helping me move into Will’s place all week. And even as he just makes that comment, he’s reaching for my camera bag because he takes it after every home game so I can ride on Will’s motorcycle back to our place. “I’ll keep your stuff locked up in my trunk, Cals, since we are all riding together to the airport tomorrow.”
“Thank you, my sweet brother,” I tease as I slide my riding jacket on. “Have I told you how much I love and appreciate you?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Adam chuckles before turning on his heels. “I’ll see you guys in the morning. Get my sister home safely, Anderson.”
“Always,” Will replies and tugs me closer by the belt loop on my jeans. “You ready to go?”
“Yup.” I flip my braid out of my jacket. “I’ve been thinking about hanging those pictures laying on our living room floor this entire game. I want to get them hung up before we leave for two weeks.”
Will sighs. “Baby, those pictures and our apartment aren’t going anywhere. You need sleep.”
“I know,” I draw out. “But we’re about to be gone for two weeks and when we get back, we get to come home toourplace for the first time. I just want it to be perfect.”
Will shakes his head but there’s this smile on his face that tells me he likes the idea too. Linking his hand with mine we head out to the red Ninja he bought in Florida and Will starts to put my helmet on my head.
“Alright,” Will says softly. “If you want the pictures done, I’ll do them as soon as we get home. Just tell me where you want them.”
“No, Will, you just played a long game. I can hang some frames.”
Will narrows his eyes at me. “I’ll hang the pictures. We’ve talked about this, Callie. I get to take care of you now.”
