I still can’t get the image of him standing in the shadows of the bathroom watching as I let Hunter fuck me. I almost came from his sexy smirk alone.
“Babe, I love you, but you haven’t had a decent lay in forever. Do you even know what it’s like to get off with something other than your vibrator?” I grimace as she continues to bombard me. “Haven’t you indulged in any of those smutty romance books where the stepbrother pretends to hate his stepsister and the tension builds until neither of them can refrain from tearing the other’s clothes off?”
“Stop,” I beg her. “This is not a romance book, it’s my life. Dad got married without me here and then moved his new family in without talking to me first. That’s what we should focus on right now.”
There’s a knock on my bedroom door, and I freeze. Dad’s at work, and Roberta has never come near my bedroom in the nineteen years she’s been working for us.
“Hang on a sec, Maya.” I hold the phone against my chest and call out, “Hello?”
The door is pushed open, and Elena sticks her head inside. “Hi Bea,” she says, offering me a genuine smile which I don’t return. “Your dad and I thought it might be nice to have a family dinner tonight. I just wanted to see if there was anything you wanted to request?”
I shake my head. “Anything’s fine,” I reply flatly. I probably won’t be able to stomach it anyway.
“Oh, okay. Well, I’m just downstairs if you need anything. Dinner will be served at six.”
My smile is tight. I can’t believe she’s telling me to see her if I need anything in my own house. She’s the intruder here. “Sure thing.”
She hovers in my doorway awkwardly before giving a slight nod and pulling the door closed behind her as she leaves.
“This is the worst,” I complain to Maya after I bring the phone back to my ear. “I feel like a stranger in my own home.”
“It hasn’t even been twenty-four hours yet, Bea. Give it time. Your dad obviously loves this woman, otherwise he wouldn’t have done something so crazy.”
I scoff. Love? How can they be in love when he’s never even mentioned her to me?
“In the meantime, my advice is strut around in your sexiest outfits. It will give your new stepbrother something to think about when he’s lying in bed all alone at night.”
“You’re delusional.”
“But you love me anyway. Feel free to send me any photos of Killian Walsh half naked in your pool if the situation arises.”
“I’m sure Matteo would love that,” I grouch.
“Babe, he’s a hot as fuck billionaire. He’s more than secure in our relationship.”
“Hate you.”
“Love you.”
I breathe out another sigh as I hang. Shit, I didn’t even tell her about everything that went down with Hunter, or Elias being a voyeur. But I’m sure that would have only played right into her stepbrother fantasy.
Chapter 6
Elias
I SLAM MY pick against the strings, and the music screams my frustration in a complex, intricate riff. It becomes angrier and more discordant the longer I play. I don’t even notice that the others have stopped until Kill and Asher are standing directly in front of me, brows raised. The music cuts off, and the silence is deafening.
“What did your guitar ever do to you?” Kill pries my instrument from my hands, slipping the strap over my head as I scowl at him. “Chill, dude.”
I shove him away and stalk over to the fridge in the corner of his garage and grab a bottle of water. Twisting the cap off, I guzzle the contents, and crush the plastic once I’m done.
“Jeez, someone woke up on the wrong side of the plush bed. Is living the high life not as good as it seems then?”
If looks could kill.
“Come on, guys,” Wyatt speaks up. “Weren’t we meant to be working on some new stuff for our gig at the Forum in a few weeks? I’ve only got a half-hour and then I’ve gotta get home to my brothers.”
Jamming the palm of my hands into my face, I rub mytired eyes. I tossed and turned all night after my run in with Bea, because all I could think about was forcing her to her knees and watching the tears roll down her cheeks as she chokes on my cock.
