He chuckles into my neck. “I bought it for you this weekend to wear when I'm racing.”
Turning to face his enlarged eyes, his grin is big enough to consume all of him. Golden hair tousled, eyes shimmering in the dull sunlight and hands holding me securely. Noah sniffs a laugh.
“You bought me a shirt?”
His eyebrows pump once. “Well, yeah. I’m not letting you wear someone else’s number, Grey. That might actually kill me.”
My tongue pokes the side of my cheek as my fingers run down the sides of the soft fabric. “I love it, Noah.”
“Good, because I don’t want anyone else wearing it.”
Hands tightening on my narrow waist, his face moves closer to mine to where there’s barely an inch separating our lips. His intoxicating scent fills my lungs as I breathe him in, wanting his mouth on mine.
“If you don’t push me away, Grey, then I’m going to kiss you,” he whispers, his lips brushing against mine with each word like a feather touching my skin.
I don’t move. I hardly breathe because I want this. I want to kiss him, and when his lips press against mine, I think I melt into him.
Chapter Twenty-Six
NOAH
I’m kissing her.
Hands cupping Mia’s face, her soft lips move against mine as I breathe in her deep floral scent. I have been craving this for weeks, and seeing her wearing my number and underwear, looking so flustered... I needed to know what it felt like.
Mouths moving together, a vibration runs through me as I apply more pressure. She’s warm and gentle, and I move at the same pace as her, wanting Mia to take the lead.
Hands moving up my back, trailing towards my neck, her fingers run through my hair, and nails drag along my skin, but I revel in the feeling. Hands grabbing onto her waist, I lift her up onto the edge of the bench, holding her in place. I want to touch her. To feel every inch of her flesh, but I’m not going to until she’s ready.
Lips pressing against mine, she lets out the softest moan, and I match it with a louder groan that vibrates my jaw. Her lips curl against mine, and I fight to keep from pushing further, taking more of her. Mia pulls her head back, soft breath fanning over my skin. I soak in her warmth as I meet her gaze.
Chest heaving, I reach out and tuck loose strands of hair behind her ears, trying to collect myself. I peer over my shoulder at Jade who is way more invested in her food than us.
Thank you, God.
“Sorry,” I murmur, chin dipping to look at her glowing face. “But seeing you in my top... I couldn’t help myself.” The air in here is feeling way too warm. A small giggle escapes her throat as she leans up and peck my lips. “I like kissing you.”
“I like kissing you, too,” I mumble, pressing my lips to her cheek. Stepping backwards, I let out a heavy exhale. “But if I keep going, I’m not going to be able to control myself.”
Dark grey irises bore into mine, sending a shiver down my spine. Mia nods, wiping her sweaty hands on her top. “I know, but I don’t think?—”
“I know, Grey. And it’s okay. I want you to feel comfortable, and if moving slowly does, then that’s what we’ll do.” My kind words flood out, heating my chest as she stares up at me, lips slightly parted.
My brows furrow, creasing deep, as I remember what I needed to tell her when I got home. Seeing her with Jade made my mind slip, knowing that they’re becoming so close. I never thought I would see Jade getting close to anyone else—besides Tatum. But knowing that my daughter loves being with Mia as much as I do only amplifies the tingling sensation. I clear my throat before saying, “I have something to ask you, though.”
Lips faltering, she slides off the bench. “What is it?”
I run a hand through my hair, stepping away from her, creating distance that I’m starting to hate between us, but I need the chance to explain. “I have to drive in Newcastle this weekend. Rogerson still isn’t back from New Zealand, so I’m going to have to fill in, which means you’ll be with Jade again.”
“That’s okay. I love being with Jade,” she admits truthfully.
My mouth tilts up as her gaze moves between me and my daughter. “I know, but I feel bad that I’m leaving you with her again.” Exhaling slowly, moving closer to stroke Jade’s curls as she shovels food into her mouth. “I wish I could bring her with me, but I can’t.”
“I don’t want you to feel bad, Noah. That’s why I’m here, helping you out when you’re working so that Jade is safe.”
My mouth tightens, eyes moving away from her as doubt starts to bubble through me. I don’t want to feel this way. Guilty every time I am called away, leaving Jade here while I’m off racing.
It hurts too much, and the other night was a reminder that I need Jade near me as much as she does. She’s my everything, and Mia is becoming part of that too. They are both becoming my everything.
