“Stop calling me that, asshole! Let me get back to my story. As we’re all aware Georgie is a rat. I suspected he’d have to have help because there’s no way he could do all this by himself,” she pauses. “Last night, I was on stage doing my number when I noticed Georgie approach Brandy at the bar. At first I thought it was nothing to worry about until she leaned in closer toward him with her eyes darting around the club, as if to make sure no one saw.”

Reflecting on what Raine said, I lean back into the couch and cross my arms. When I saw Brandy last time she was pretty pissed off that I had blatantly ignored her advances. Could she be a woman scorned, so the saying goes?

“What else happened?” I ask.

Raine sighs. “Nothing for a few hours. I kept my eyes on them throughout the night and when things began winding down, I saw Brandy scanning the club before exiting through the employee’s lounge area. Of course I followed her.”

“Where did she go?” Acheron interrupted.

“I’m getting there, douche. When I entered the lounge no one was around, which I found odd. Anyway, I crept toward the back where the lockers are and heard her voice. She was talking to Georgie.”

“That fucking skank,” Arrow admonished. “What were they talking about?”

“Brandy was grilling him and telling him not to approach her in the club because she feared someone would notice them.”

I swear it feels like the blood in my veins thickened and coagulated as I blow out angry breaths. I always knew she’d be trouble. They always want to tame the beast, and when they don’t get what they want…

“What did he say?” I bark.

Raine winces, clearly sensing my temper is calling shotgun. She uncrosses her legs then crosses them again. She’s nervous.

“That he can’t wait for this to all be over so they can be together. He’s sick of only having her in the shadows, and once he takes care of business, they can have their happily ever after…”

“Want aren’t you telling us, Raine?” I growl.

“You have to promise you’re going to keep your temper in check and not doing anything stupid.”

“Raine,” I warn.

“Fine. Georgie said once he gets his cut they’ll run away and have their identities wiped.” She vacillates, and I know she’s nervous about what’s about to come out of her mouth.

“Spill it, for fuck sakes, Raine, I’m at the edge of my rope here and you’re pounding down on my last fucking nerve.”

“Georgie said he needs to speak to Draconis to speed this shit up, because he doesn’t want to wait anymore.”

I bolt upright from the lounge and swipe the contents off the coffee table. My breath heaves in and out as everything smashes to the floor. I work my jaw so fucking hard I swear I hear my teeth crack, as the fury rolls inside me like a ravenous storm ready to part like the red sea. I want to paint the streets with his blood.

A hand cautiously rests on my shoulder but I shake it off.

“Brother…”

Not even Acheron can sooth the rage within me now. The beast has been bestirred and his hankering saliva drips out of his mouth, ready to eliminate anything in his wake.

“That motherfucker!”

Chapter Fifteen – Kenzi

I jolt awake and place my hand over my hammering heart when I hear an angry bellow coming from somewhere in the house. Immediately I recognize that voice belongs to Justyce.

My brain feels foggy as I take in the room around me. Heat rises up my neck at the thought of everything that occurred last night, and on this very bed.

Throwing the covers off, I stretch my hands over my head feeling every aching muscle that was used last night. Realizing I’m smiling, I scold myself and head for the bathroom.

Stepping into the bathroom is like stepping into a five-star hotel and it steals my breath for a quick second. My eyes instantly gravitate to the mahogany red feature wall then slowly to the beige ones surrounding it. Gazing down, I see large white shiny tiles adorn the floor, with a massive black and white hot tub in the center and a shower to the far left with a removeable head. There is a black granite vanity with a white sink to the right, and next to it is a toilet that’s calling my name.

After using the toilet, I catch my reflection in the mirror and wince at seeing all the bruises on my body. Turning the tap on I begin to wash my hands and see blood under my nails.

Embarrassment flounders inside of me like a fish out of water when I remember using Justyce’s back like a damn scratching post.
