“Let’s not act the fool, Brandy. We know what you’ve been up to and you haven’t been a good girl at all,” I deadpan.
Raine steps in front of me with her gun pointed at Brandy. She shuffles up the lounge, causing the vibrator to fall to the ground still on. It would be comical watching the black dick shuddering on the floor if not for the situation.
My eyes dip down to the toy and I quirk an eyebrow. “Would you turn that fucking thing and the porn off so we can have a little chat.”
She reaches down to turn off the vibrator then sits back up and straightens her shirt. Brandy looks from me to the gun in Raine’s hand and fixes the façade on her face.
“Is everything ok? This couldn’t wait until I got to work later?”
“No, it couldn’t wait. A little birdy tells us you’ve been dabbling in things you shouldn’t. I suggest you chuck some pants on because we’re going for a drive,” I say, feeling the annoyance claw me from the inside out.
She tries to play coy and stumbles over her words, “I−I don’t know what you’re talking about, I do my job and that’s it. You know me, Justyce.” Brandy’s eyes plead with me to believe her, but all I see is the deception forming a cataract over her irises.
“You’ve got one minute to put some pants on and some shoes.” I look down at my watch for theatrics then back up at her. “Your time starts now.”
She scrambles to put her pants on and finds some sneakers through the scattered debris on the floor. Standing up, she eyes the gun once more before fixing her gaze on me.
“I suggest you don’t make a scene, otherwise Raine is going to put a bullet in that pretty head of yours.”
She swallows hard and it makes me smile behind the mask. Brandy knows she’s fucked up. If she only knew just how much.
Raine leads her out the way we came in with the gun resting on her lumbar. Brandy doesn’t make a sound when she’s pushed through the broken fence and into the boot of my car.
I want her to sweat and wonder what the fuck is going to happen to her for the role she is playing with Georgie. Brandy can act dumb for as long as she likes, we both know how this’ll end; us standing tall−untouched and her a whimpering mess imploring for her life at the base of my shoes.
I call Arrow on the way to Arcane and tell him to meet us at the club. I should be there for the beginning of this interrogation but my thoughts are elsewhere. Electric blues captivate my mind and every piece of me is itching to punish her sexy ass for making me lose my damn focus. Like a witch weaving a spell, that’s what Kenzie’s done to me. It’s happening too often and I need to put a stop to it.
Pulling through the gates of Arcane, I nod toward Sniper . He inclines his head back in greeting. Arrow is standing in the carpark looking a million dollars. Smirking to myself, I think,he’s going to wish he opted for less classy clothes.
The car comes to a stop beside him and I press the electric window button down and watch the glass pane disappear between us.
Arrow’s eyebrows pull together in confusion, but then his face smooths out in recognition; he knows I’m not joining this little party along with him and Raine.
“I take it you’ve got somewhere else to be?” he says, smirking.
“Oh come on, J baby, I thought we were going to play,” Raine whines beside me in the passenger seat.
Chuckling, I turn toward her to see a pout on her lips. “We will later. For now you and Arrow are going to play together and keep her company. Make her question her sanity. I know you can do it, Rainey.”
“Fine,” she huffs, “but you owe me.” She pulls her wild orchid hair over her shoulder and looks across to Arrow.
“Come on, baby, let’s play,” he taunts.
Raine rolls her eyes and leans over to plant a kiss on my cheek. Her hand freezes on the door handle and she sucks her teeth, seemingly masticating over her next words. “Go easy on her, J, she didn’t ask to be in this situation.” She offers me a small smile and hops out of the car leaving me with lava thrashing through my veins.
They still don’t know what Kenzi saw all those years ago so the fact Raine’s sticking up for her angers me and sends guilt squeezing though my pores at the same time.
These feelings are unfamiliar to me and portrays weakness. Swallowing down the emotion, I hit the boot button for Arrow and Raine to deal with Brandy.
From my rearview mirror, I see Arrow haul Brandy to her feet and drag her toward the door that enters into to the club. Raine’s gun is trained on her with a smile so bright on her face it looks unnerving. Maybe this pair can do more to Brandy than absolve her stupidity and sins. Arrow punches in the code and walks thorough. I wait for the back door to click and the red light to flicker on, signaling the lock is in place and the alarm is set.
Throwing the car in reverse, I hit the accelerator a little too hard. The wheels spin and I catch a smirk on Sniper’s face.Home time, baby.
Racing through the streets of Dana Point and probably breaking a dozen laws in the process, I heave a sigh of relief and drive toward my garage.
I’m already edgy and in need of release and when I see Acheron’s car in the driveway my heart beats like a fucking pagan drum in my chest. Red mist shrouds my vision. What the fuck is he doing here?
I park the Aston Martin, hop out and jog inside to find my brother. Something tells me I’m going to find him with Kenzi and that frustrates me more than I want to admit right now.
