“Fuck you,” we both say in in unison, and I feel the small smile tickle the side of my face.

“Why are you here, Ach?” Arrow asks, and my eyes go from him to Acheron.

“Boss sent me.”

“No. Justyce sent me, so Raine and I could talk.”

“You mean fuck, right? That’s all you ever really do.”

Arrow steps forward, his leather jacket crinkling from the speed he moves at, and I snap out of my stupor and step between them, wondering why Acheron came if Justyce sent Arrow.

“What in the ever-loving fuck is going on here? My head is banging, and I really don’t need you two assholes adding to the chaos already nesting in my skull… So, if you wouldn’t mind, shut the hell up!”

Acheron smirks again, and my ire rises once more, but before I can open my mouth, he speaks. “I can see why you like her, Arrow, that mouth,” he whistles. “Such a dirty little hole.”

I can feel Arrow vibrating behind me, and it takes all my strength not to console my best friend, but fuck him too, for coming in here like he owns the damn place, like he ownsme.

“I think you should both leave. I’m a big girl and more than capable of driving myself. Where does Justyce need me?” I question, rubbing my left temple in hopes of assuaging the ache.

“Arcane, but I’ll come with,” Arrow states, and I shake my head no.

“Raine.”

I put my hand up between them, ignoring Acheron’s grin and the way Arrow tenses. I refuse to look into his eyes right now; I know I’ll see the hurt reflected there, and I’m too raw and too fucking hungover to deal with this shit.

“Show yourselves out. I’m having a quick shower, and then I’ll head in.”

Acheron pushes off the wall he was leaning on, gives a half-assed salute, and waltzes out the door without a care in the world. Once his car starts up and speeds out of the driveway, I place my hands on my hips and finally look at Arrow’s face.

His brows are carved into a deep v, his eyes looking at me with a mixture of annoyance and sadness. Letting out a heavy breath, I walk toward the stairs, pausing at the bottom and looking over my shoulder at him.

“Just go, Row; I’ll be there soon.”

“I can wait for you.”

“No.”

“We need to talk.”

I throw my hands in the air, and Arrow’s eyes track my movements, his eyes dipping low to where my shirt rises. Frustration takes over the resignation I was feeling moments ago.

“Now you want to fucking talk after leaving me wondering what the hell is going on for the last week. After you and Raven paired up, fucked me senseless and left without so much as a goodbye. Oh, but Arrow has to be the fucking gentleman, don’t you? Tucking me into my bed and thinking that would be enough so you could ignore me the entire week. Well, fuck you, Arrow!” I scream, tears running down my cheeks and dripping from my chin.

“Baby,” he says, stepping forward, his eyes looking like melted toffee.

“Don’t you baby me, Arrow.”

“Come here.”

“No. I want you to leave.”

“Fuck that,” he growls, closing the distance and wrapping me in his arms.

I kick out and try to punch him, but he pulls me closer.

“Shh, I got you.”

“Fuck you,” I mumble, crying into his black tee and saturating it with my tears.
