“You have my number. Call me if you want.”
With that, he walks past Acheron, tipping his head in acknowledgment before leaving the stalls. Acheron is breathing hard, and I’m confused by his reaction. He wanted to bring me here, so why is he acting like this?
“What the fuck was that, Raine? I thought I told you to be careful.”
“And I was. I’m still alive and breathing.”
He scoffs. “That I can see. Grab your shit; we are leaving.”
Not wanting another argument with him, I pick my purse up off the ground, quickly checking my phone and everything else is inside before following Acheron out.
When we reach his car, I look at him over the roof and find his eyes already on me. “I’m sorry if you were worried about me, but I’m a big girl.”
“Yeah, you are, but you’re also stupid. Get in the car, Raine; I’m tired.”
I want to snap back and give him a piece of my mind, but when I see the exhaustion rimming his eyes, I decide to pick my battles, and this isn’t one of them.
Buckling up, I watch as Clandestine Moments disappears in the side mirror behind us, the memory of Gabe and myself in the bathroom at the forefront of my mind.
Questions are swirling like a whirlpool inside my head, his throaty voice echoing loudly within.Good girl. Those two words could turn any woman to mush; better yet, his praise sparked something inside of me that I haven’t felt in a long fucking time…
Feelings of being needed and wanted. That’s what I felt, and I’m going to hold on to that feeling a little longer before questioning my stupidity. Just a little longer…
Chapter15
Raine
The bright sun shining through my open window wakes me, and I stretch my arms above my head and flex my toes. After Acheron dropped me off, I undressed and stared at Gabe’s card for a while before switching off the light, fucking myself with one of my toys, and falling asleep with the stupid thing still inside of me.
I am fucking exhausted today, but it was worth it. Grabbing my phone, I look down and see I have a missed call from Justyce and a message from Acheron.
Yawning, I open Acheron’s message and read.
Be careful who you play with, Raine. Wolves dress as sheep all the time.
I ignore his message and call Justyce back.
“Raine,” he answers on the third ring.
“You rang?”
“Yeah. I have a favor to ask.”
I groan loudly, and he chuckles.
“What?”
“I need you to do a show at the club tomorrow.”
“What, why?”
“Because the dancers we had lined up canceled.”
“Fuck sakes, Justyce. I’ll have to dance all fucking day to come up with a routine; shit, I don’t even know if my girls will be able to accommodate me.”
“Hold up, Raine.”
I wait and hear him talking in the background to Kenzi.
