“Damn,” he whispers, eyes wide. “That was amazing.”

“Buckle up,” I say, wincing a little when I move to cuddle up beside him. “You’re gonna be getting these for a while, and I’ll only get better at it.”

Instead of snuggling, though, Egorr gestures for me to lie back.

“We need to treat that,” he says, eyes downcast. “And we should probably take you to a doctor tomorrow, in case you need stitches.”

I clench reflexively at the idea of someone stitching me downthere.

“We don’t need to do all that.” I screw up my lips. “It will heal on its own.”

Egorr doesn’t answer as he heads to the bathroom, then returns with a tube of antibacterial salve. Hetsksas he applies it, and while I wince at the pain, I can see him berating himself silently. When he at last returns to snuggling me, he’s tense all over.

“Egorr.” I stroke his bare head. “Are you all right?”

“You’re askingme?” He sighs and rests his cheek between my bare breasts. “I’m worried. What if I did permanent damage?”

“You didn’t. I’m sure of it.” I hug him tighter against me. “It will be all right.”

But lying next to him tonight certainly isn’t going to help me keep my hands off him.

“I’m going to go to bed, okay?”

Egorr raises his head. “All right. Thank you for…” He gestures down at his cock.

“Don’t thank me.” I kiss him square on the lips, holding on to one of his tusks. “I loved it.”

I climb off the bed, each movement of my thighs making the wound flare with pain.

“Maddie?” Egorr asks, sitting up. He looks sadder than I wanted to leave him.

“Yes?”

“Sleep well.”

I almost don’t want to go with how sweet and soft he looks, naked on his bed, but I know that it’s good for us to have our own spaces while we’re getting to know each other.

“You too, Egorr.” I bounce back one more time to drop a kiss on his lips, and he smiles as I head out the door.

ChapterEight

The next day, the moment I get out of bed, I’m hurting again.

This sucks. I wish I hadn’t been so overeager last night. I hurried us, and now the mistake rests on me. I should have known he’d be too big—I’m human and he’s an ogre. Of course we aren’t made to fit together.

That troubling thought follows me as I hobble out into the living room to find Egorr making breakfast. I thought he would be gone at the office today, so I’m pleased to see him.

He turns around when I appear and a big smile takes over his face.

“Maddie!” He’s about to throw his arms around me, but pauses before touching me. “How are you feeling?”

“I’m okay.” I don’t want to worry him even more, so I put on a happy face. “It hurts a little, but I’m okay.”

When I lean into his chest, Egorr hugs me tight. He feels so good and warm that I don’t want to let him go.

“Weren’t you supposed to go into the office today?” I ask, still buried in him.

“I took the morning off and made a call. Doctor’s appointment is at eleven. They were able to squeeze us in.”
