I forgot how to breathe. I forgot everything but the warm, familiar taste of Dane as we shared the same space, one soul with two heartbeats. The world kept turning, but we were frozen in this moment. Wrapped up in each other. Desperate to make up for lost time.

When we finally broke apart, our chests were heaving. My heart was doing the tango, and I could see his pulse beating rapidly in his throat. His eyes sparked with heat. It did all sorts of things to my nether regions. Ireallywanted to climb on top of him, grind myself against him, and kiss him until my lips were bruised and we were both sweaty and spent.

Instead, I settled on a rather chaste peck on the lips. His eyes widened. He knew I was teasing him, so I smirked and walked my fingers up his chest. “Good things come to those who wait. Call me,” I said before letting myself out. Dane honked the horn. I exhaled a laugh and flipped him the bird.

I’d only been inside long enough to shuck my coat and boots and grab a bottle of water from the fridge, when my phone went off. I knew it was Dane before I ever pulled it out of my pocket.

“What? Miss me already?”

“Come out to lunch with me tomorrow,” he said, still sounding a little breathless. “I’ll bring my Switch and we can table-top Smash Ultimate. What do you say?”

My face hurt from grinning so big. “I dunno…”

“Say yes.”

Pull my leg, why don’t you?

“Yes,” I agreed. “I’d like that.”

“Good.”
