JIM
Iglanced out the window. He was late.
“Dude, are you gonna spot me or not?” Tim huffed as he pushed the bar back up. “This is… fucking heavy…”
“You shouldn’t let Ben put the weights on.” I put my hands on the bar and helped him put it back in its resting position on the bar. “I take at least one off every time. It’s not a competition.”
“Yes, it is, boys.” Ben took his shirt off and flexed in the mirrors that surrounded us.
“I’ll never look like you, dude.” Tim stood, took his shirt off, and stood beside Ben. “You don’t have children.” He slapped his belly. “The six pack disappears once you do.”
“You look great, Tim. Look at that pump on your chest.” Ben reached over and squeezed Tim’s tit. “All the girls are falling all over you since your divorce.”
“Who has time to date, man. All I do is teach, coach, and take the kids to all their shit. They keep me hopping.”
“I know, man. But you’re still looking good.” Ben turned to me. “Let’s see, bro. Take it off.”
I chuckled as I pulled my shirt off and threw it on the bench. I flexed in the mirror, and Ben slid his hand across my buzzed head.
“Dude, you are looking so fucking good. Look at those abs.”
“Jim doesn’t have kids, and his job is lifting shit.”
“It’s more than that, but…” I raised my arms and flexed. “But I am liking what I see.”
In the mirror, I saw Finn standing behind us. His eyes were bugging out of his head as he stared at me. Interesting…
“Finn! You made it.”
“Yeah, sorry I’m late. I opened a box and before I knew it, I was late.”
“Unpacking, huh? That sucks,” Ben grinned.
“Damn, you guys take the gym very seriously.” He looked around the gym.
“I’m Tim, and this is Ben.” Tim stepped forward and offered his sweaty hand. “Sorry… They keep it hot in here.”
“Nice to meet you,” Finn said, shaking his hand and smiling.
“Do you like to work out?”
“I like staying in shape.” Finn threw a small bag down by the bench.
“Well, let’s get you sweaty,” Ben nodded. “By the way, did Jim tell you anything about my idea?”
“The resort? Yeah, he did. I’m looking forward to seeing it.” Finn looked at the weights and whistled. “That’s a lot.”
I flexed my chest, and Finn gulped. “We’re bulking.”
“I can see. So you all played football, huh?”
“Yep, Tim, Ben, and Jim – the three idiots who had too many head injuries.” Ben laughed. “We’ve been friends forever. You wanna go? Spot him, Jim.”
“I’m just gonna…” Finn took off a couple of the weights and nodded. “As a dancer, I like to stay toned and not get too bulky.”
He lay down on the bench, and I walked over and stood above him. “Ready?”
He glanced up at me and his face instantly flushed. “Yep.” He pushed off and did a quick set of fifteen before I helped him guide the bar to its resting place. I couldn’t help but stare at him. He really was exquisite. His arms were a thing of beauty, and this wasn’t the first time I noticed. Walking around with him today in that tank top – it was hard not to stare at him. The way he moved and walked, you could tell that he was a dancer. It was graceful and powerful at the same time. If he weren’t my boss, I’d totally be into him at first glance. His long black eyelashes and high cheekbones made him look like a statue made of marble that some sculptor had created in the image of the perfect man. Who could ever cheat on him and break his heart? I wouldn't.
