He was hot, and I was hot for him.
I was lying on the floor stretching my hamstring. My knee didn’t hurt too much as long as I didn’t push myself too hard. I could still dance – just not really dance like I used to.
He was running late. He texted me, and I was in no rush. I even offered to meet him there, but he said he wanted to pick me up. It wasn’t like I hadn’t met his friends before. He was being sweet and didn’t want me to have to walk. Maybe he wanted us to walk in together. I didn’t even know if they knew or not. I hadn’t asked, and he hadn’t told. He just told me we were all gonna hang out tonight.
I’d do anything he wanted as long as I was with him.
I had it bad. We hadn’t said the ‘L’ word yet, but I had come very close as we were having sex. God, the way he looked into my eyes as he fucked me was life-changing. I loved him. I had spent more than a week in his bed, and every moment that we weren’t at work, we were together. We talked a lot. I knew more about Tad and his past. He learned more about Marcus and how it had broken me for a while.
I told him about how it felt to bow before a Broadway audience and how I thought my life was going to change forever.
He reminded me that it had.
I couldn’t argue. In fact, it made me smile.
He was a bit of a caveman in some ways. He lived like a retired frat boy, and I couldn’t stop myself from straightening up. I even showed him how to wash his dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. His smirk was… It made my knees wet.
The knock on the door made me jump up onto my feet pretty quickly.
I opened the door, and Jim stood there in a tight polo and a pair of jeans that were literally obscene. I had to roll my tongue back into my mouth to stop it from flopping out. He grinned, and from behind his back, he pulled a small bouquet of daisies.
“I mean, it is our first real date.” He winked.
“Do we have time to put these in water?”
“Aren’t you staying at my house tonight? We can put them in a vase there.”
“You actually own a vase?” I giggled. “Alright.”
I grabbed my bag and locked my door.
When I turned around, he was right there and his lips were on mine. I wrapped my arms around him and gave myself over to his deep kiss. He tasted like vanilla.
“Now, we can leave.” He smirked and took my hand in his.
He opened the door for me, and when we pulled up to a bar called Roscoes, he opened my door and held my hand tightly as we walked up to the dark wooden place. “You’re gonna love it. They have prosecco, and it’s not the cheap stuff.”
He grabbed the door and opened it before leading me inside. I saw Ben and Tim sitting with another guy in a large booth in the corner. I glanced around the bar and laughed as Moulin Rouge’s cast album started playing. “It’s Broadway night.” He laughed.
We walked over hand in hand, and I noticed Ben slap Tim on the arm. Tim frowned.
“Hey guys. Sorry, we’re late. I got held up with the parents for a bit.” Jim grinned as he slid into the booth. I scooted in against him. His thigh leaned in and touched mine. “Finn, you know Ben and Tim. This perfect person is Percy, Ben’s husband.”
“I heard a lot about you. My best friend is in the show as a maid.”
“Nice to meet you. Yes! Tammy Sue. I met her on my first day here. In fact, she was the first person I met when I went into your bakery. I love the name.”
“That bakery has been here forever. Perce’s parents owned and ran it for years. Now he has elevated it.” Tim looked at me seriously and then over at Ben. “So, are you two…”
“We even made it official,” Jim smirked.
Ben held out his hand, and Tim slapped a twenty into his palm.
“You bet on us?” Jim laughed. “I swear you two would bet on anything.”
“Old habits die hard.”
“So, Finn. I heard you were on Broadway? What was that like?” Percy asked sweetly. He looked so delicate and sweet that it made sense he was a baker.
