It wasn’t like we’d sat there in silence. We’d talked about the yard and the bathrooms because we’d be going from twosmall ones to two bigger ones. We’d also had a long, drawn-out debate on theride home about what takeout to get because Dare decided he was going to sit onour laps while he ate, and since he couldn’t do that at a restaurant, we’d haveto get something to go.

Dare had finally just settled on hamburgerswhen Scott and I took too long deciding between Chinese and Thai food. Neitherof us felt like budging, because then we would have had to talk about thebedroom situation in the house, so it’d gotten a bit out of hand. As we climbedthe stairs with the McDonald’s bag, I finally admitted to myself that I shouldhave given in sooner.

Lesson learned, though. Don’t push sweetDare too far because then he becomes Dom Dare and makes the decision for us.

I had a feeling he was just frustratedbecause he wanted us to talk about the important part of the house on our ownand we weren’t doing it. I wanted to tell him I could learn and understood whathe was doing, but I didn’t. Just because I realized that didn’t mean it waseasy to work my way through.

Scott set the bag down on the coffee table, and I set down the drinks I was carrying as I flopped down on the couch. Assoon as we were seated, Dare curled up on us with his ass on me and most of hislegs on Scott. We were all sitting close enough that it felt like we werewrapped up together.

I just wasn’t sure how I was going to eatwith only one free hand.

Dare solved the problem as he startedhanding out the food. When we all had our burgers, he set his down on his lapand grabbed a box of fries. As he started pulling them out, he took turnsfeeding us.

Scott laughed as Dare teased him by holdingthe fry out just inches from his lips. As Scott flicked his tongue out to grabit, Dare and I moaned. Dare gave me a wink as he wiggled on my lap. “He’s sosexy when he does that. I bet he could rim someone fabulously.”

Scott blushed, and I started choking on thefry Dare had just fed me. When they both snickered at me, I tried to look lessridiculous. “Fry went down the wrong way.”

Dare grinned. “Suuure it did.”

Scott stole the fry from Dare while he wasdistracted by me, and that got me out of the spotlight for a few seconds. Darewent back and forth with the fries as we started in on our burgers. When it becameclear no one was talking about the bedroom, I finally decided to jump right in.

“I like the house, but there’s no wayeither of us can happily live in that small bedroom.” So it wasn’t quite jumpingoff the deep end; more like easing my way into the pool.

Dare seemed pleased, though, because I gottwo fries that time and he smiled. “It would make a good office.”

As he picked up his burger, he glanced overat Scott. “I bet you could do a lot from home if you had a good space to workin.”

Swallowing his food, Scott nodded. “Yeah,we just don’t have room for it here.”

Spreading out on the coffee table or oursmall kitchen table wouldn’t really work, and the bedrooms weren’t big enoughfor a reasonably sized work desk. “With some shelves and stuff in there itcould be a good office, and that would add more storage to the place.”

We weren’t hoarders by any means, but I hada feeling once we had a place my mother wanted to visit, she would insist onthings like a Christmas tree and we’d end up with all kinds of crazy stuff.Scott nodded. “That’s a good idea.”

Again, lots of excitement and agreement, but nothing about the elephant in the room.

I tried again. “We’d need a bigger bed.”

Dare helped things along as he fed Scott afew fries. “That room is big enough for a king without a problem. The closetisn’t that big, but it looks bigger than what you’ve got now, so it’s probablyfine.”

Scott took longer than was probablynecessary chewing the fries, but eventually he had to swallow them. “Yeah, andif we do one of those organizer things it should help the closet space. Bartdoesn’t seem like the kind of landlord who would have an issue with us doing aproject like that.”

Dare laughed. “He’d probably think you hada membership in thatgay decorating mafiahe was complaining about.”

“He was…” I was at a loss for words.

“Odd.” Scott shrugged. “But at least hedidn’t have an issue with us.”

“Agreed.” That was a relief andautomatically moved that house higher up the list. I liked the idea of nothaving to worry about hiding our relationship from him.

Dare finally gave up on us. “So you guysare okay with sharing a room? It’s a big transition from roommates to livingtogether in the same room.”

Was it?

Scott turned and looked at me. He seemed asunsure as I was. Finally, he leaned into my shoulder. “I think it will befine.”

Dare almost giggled. “A rousing response.”

I had to chuckle. “It’s okay.”
