“That’s great.” Dare’s smile went up by a thousand watts andhe looked as relieved as I felt. “Does he think that it will come out?”

I shook my head. “No, he said people have basically guessedabout my family not taking my coming out well since I avoid talking about them, and it won’t be a surprise when I avoid more events like the Christmas party.”

Dare leaned in and gave me a quick, passionate kiss. “That’sgreat.”

His excitement and confidence soothed the last raggednerves, and I pulled him into a tight hug. Leaning back against the couch, Ikissed his head and just soaked up his warmth and his love. Dare wrapped hisarms around me and snuggled as close as he could.

“You have to promise you’ll let me know if things getuncomfortable at work.” Dare paused, giving me a soft peck on my cheek beforerelaxing against me again. “Work is your space, but we both know that thestress will bleed through everything else if things are difficult.”

He was probably right.

“Promise.” Kissing his head, I took a deep breath and huggedhim again. “And you have to promise me that if it ever feels like I’m hidingyou or you start to resent my not talking about relationship stuff at work, you’ll tell me?”

He chuckled before sitting up and nodding. “Baby, betweenRyan’s parents, my family, and our friends finding out about us, I know youaren’t hiding me and honestly, we don’t need anyone else asking inappropriatequestions.”

Yeah, between his siblings and Ryan’s mother, we had plentyof that already.

But since pointing that out seemed a bit rude, I took theconversation in a different direction. “I love you. Even if we’re boring.”

Laughter really was the best medicine because as Darelaughed, all I felt was love and utter contentment. I had the best Master ever.

Chapter 18

Ryan

“Are you sure we should’ve asked all his family to help?”Scott’s voice was so low as he whispered next to my ear, I had to strain tohear it.

Shrugging, I knew he wasn’t going to like my answer. “It waseither his family or mine.”

“Oh.” Scott sighed, echoing how I felt about the wholething. “That’s still a hard decision.”

Agreed.

“At least his mother is keeping them in line.” Having herhere was actually making a world of difference. She seemed to have ESP when itcame to her kids, and she always knew which ones were going to get in trouble.

“Megan, that box goes in the office.” Lydia’s tone said sheknew Meggie was trying to be nosy and everyone else knew it based on thelaughter flowing through the house. Dare’s mother had eyes in the back of herhead.

“Oops, sorry, Mom.” The singsong tone in her voice hadeveryone doubting her sincerity.

“Bullshit,” Scott whispered. “We shouldn’t have let Daretalk us out of a lockbox for the toys.”

I’d have to agree with Scott on that.

“But he was right, his mother is keeping them in line andthe gun safe might’ve been a bit much.” Maybe.

“But it would’ve been secure, and it was a good deal.” Scottwasn’t going to back down on that even though he’d let Dare talk him out of it.

We really didn’t have space for it either, so Dare probablywasn’t wrong overall.

“Okay, quick kiss and let’s go back to work.” The quicker wefinished, the faster we’d get them out of the house.

Just as we were getting ready to move, Dare came in thefront door, his gaze searching the house before finally settling on us. As hesmiled, Scott blushed, and I did my best to appear innocent, but Dare made hisway over to us anyway.

“They won’t bite.” His teasing had both of us scoffing as wemoved back into the kitchen for a little bit of privacy.

“Meggie might if she thought it would give her a peek at ourcloset.” Scott gave Dare a sad look as our Master cuddled between us. “Aprivacy box would’ve made it easier to keep things private.”

Dare laughed quietly. “Sweetness, you wanted a gun case thatwould look like we were prepping for the apocalypse.”
