Scott just shrugged, not willing to deny it.
But in his defense, it would’ve given us a lot of room forsex toys…Dare really did like to shop, so it wasn’t completely overreacting.
“It’ll be fine.” He gave both of us a quick kiss. “All thestuff that’s going in storage is out in the truck, and I’m going to drag a fewof ourhelpersto go drop the rest of it off at the storage facility.”
Chuckles came from the doorway to the kitchen and we alllooked over, Scott and I trying not to look guilty even though we hadn’t doneanything wrong. It was Lydia. “Take Meggie and Rich. They still can’t behave.”
That probably shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone.
“Sounds like a plan.” Dare smiled, giving both of us quickkisses before stepping back. “That should make it easier to get the rest putaway.”
Lydia looked like she was trying not to laugh as she gaveScott’s shoulder a pat. “You two go work in the bedroom getting Dare’s stuffput away. No one needs to see the strange things he’s got in the box marked ‘private.’”
Dare grinned. “I just wanted to make sure they understood itwasn’t to be messed with.”
She rolled her eyes. “It’s got ‘touch me and die’ written onit. I think that’s a bit much.”
Personally, I thought the crime scene tape he’d somehowmanaged to find was a bit much, but I could see where she was coming from.
“You can never be too careful.” Dare smiled even wider ashis mother sighed.
“Go drop the rest of the stuff off at the storage facility.”She stepped back and gave someone a narrow gaze that clearly said to behavebefore smiling at us again. “We’ll be fine here.”
Hopefully.

“That was exhausting.” Dare lay back carefully on the bed,but his grin said he wasn’t too tired no matter what words came out of hismouth.
“Your family or the move?” Scott walked out of the bathroomand sat down on the other side of the bed, leaning over Dare.
Dare chuckled, stretching up to give Scott a quick kiss. “Myfamily, of course. The move went great.”
We’d spent a lot of time over the past few weeks puttingeverything in order and planning out what would come to the house and whatwould end up in storage, so the actual move was more about lifting and hauling. So, hard work but not much stress.
Dare liked to plan, and the move was no different. We’d haddiscussions on furniture and punishments, everything from whose couch wouldwork best in the house to what kind of decisions we wanted Dare to make on aregular basis.
I might’ve been just a bit tired of long talks, but Dare hadbeen right, they’d been necessary and helpful.
“Do you think we kept too much?” Scott’s question wasreasonable, but Dare shook his head.
“No, we don’t have any idea what kind of house we’ll belooking for, and you said it yourself, there’s no point in giving it away nowjust to have to buy it back in a year.” Grinning, he gave Scott another kiss.
“Besides, I’ve seen the way you’ve been browsing the realestate sites when you think no one is looking.” Dare laughed as Scott blushed.
Yeah, if we managed to hold out more than a year before westarted searching and making plans, I’d be shocked. Something about all thechanges that had happened over the past few months made it easier to imagineowning a home.
This time last year I’d have probably said I wasn’t ready, but now it seemed not only reasonable but practical for us.
My mother might’ve been right when she said I was finallygrowing up.
“It’s research.” Scott’s justification had Dare grinning.
“It’s basically Scott porn.” Dare looked positively wickedas Scott blushed. “You start salivating as soon as the website comes up. I betyou get hard over a big master bedroom, don’t you?”
With his cheeks a fiery red I wouldn’t have been surprisedif Scott said yes, but he huffed. “I’m not that bad.”
Dare must’ve thought his pout was cute because he lifted hishead and gave Scott another kiss. “Hm, I’m not sure that’s a very strongdenial.”
