Shehad set him on fire, and he would not be doused.

He’dnever go back to the loneliness, the longing for someone—anyone who could keep him whole.

Thosenights in theHallowMarshes, he had just been surviving.Therehad been many women in his bed, but never one that had felt like this.

HebrushedKarus’scheek with his thumb, moving to her lips.Anunwavering longing sat low in his stomach whenever he touched them.Hecouldn’t say they were her best feature because that would be an insult to the rest of her, but he loved them.Theywere full and often red, the curve of her lower lip sultry and—

Fuck, he had no self-control.

Heleaned in and kissed them softly.

Silently, she stirred and returned his kiss, stretching her long torso along his body in the way that about killed him each time.Shelifted her bare leg further up his side, pressing herself to him.Heinhaled sharply, roused and flushed with need for her.

He’dalways need her now.

Hemoved swiftly, kissing his way down her neck as she arched her head back into the pillow, her breath coming in short exhales as she tightened her grip on his shoulders, pulling him on top of her body laid out bare on the bed they shared.

Shefound his hand and guided it to the slick, soft space between her legs, showing him what she wanted without a word.

“Youknow,Karus,” he whispered in her ear as he grabbed her rear and slid himself inside her, relishing in the cry of pleasure he caused from her lips, “Ithink you’ll be the end of me.”

Henipped her ear as she moaned in need, arching her back, and exposing her breasts to him.Passingover them with one hand, lingering on each sensitive tip, he trailed back down to the center of her, his thumb starting slow circles to match the rhythm of his thrusts.

Hewatched her bite her bottom lip in ecstasy, her eyes closed as she began to fall into the pleasure, hanging on to him as an anchor before losing herself in the bliss.

“Please,Rev.”

Heabout lost it.

Everysingle time she said his name, he had to work to suppress his urge to take her to the ground right then and there, consequences be damned.

Hefulfilled her request—this time—unable to tease her this morning, his own want heavy and undisciplined as he bent down to her lips.Hekissed her with little restraint, pulling every inch of her to him over and over again.Shecried out on his mouth, her nails biting into his skin in the swell of pleasure that undid him each time he felt it pulse around him.

Heheld himself over her, both of them breathless, and she opened her eyes finally to look at him, smiling in her knowledge of how she affected him.

“Don’tleave me yet, my love.Wehave so many memories still to make.”Reachingup to kiss him again, her mouth was slow and tender.Andhe thanked—for the millionth time—whatever power it was that led him to her.

Rev

“NeedIremind you of the hour?”

BaronHeimlen’svoice reeked of scorn, a toneRevichheard more and more since he andKarushad become lovers.

“Baron,Iapologize.Ido not wish to keep you waiting.”

He’ddo it again, though.

“Thenwhy do you insist on doing so?”

Thereason was worth every bit of irritation inBaronHeimlen’svoice, thoughRevichstill swallowed some guilt upon hearing it.

Hecleared his throat, ready to answer his mentor. “Istruggle at times,Baron, to pull myself from my rooms in the morning.Iwill be early tomorrow to make up for my tardiness today.”

“Andwhat of your tardiness last week?Andthe one before?Youare late at least half the time,Revich.”BaronHeimlensighed heavily.Theglow from the single lantern on his desk flickered across his worn features, andRevnoticed his cheeks sinking deeper into his face.

Heleaned back in his chair as he continued, his tone lighter. “Donot thinkIdo not understand,Revich.Youmay forget,Iwas once a youngBaron, too.”
