“Excuse me?” Okay, now maybe he is crossing a line. “That’s really inappropriate.”
“Why? Aren’t we dating? It’s not like I care or will judge you. I just want to make sure that you’ve had enough guys before we settle down together. I don’t want you to ever feel unsatisfied with me. So if you haven’t had sex with enough guys yet, you know. You should go do that.”
“I thought you said that I was wasting my time with my boyfriend and that I should be out getting laid every weekend. I didn’t realize before thatyouwere my new boyfriend.”
“Look, Anne, you’re the one who keeps bringing up your boyfriend. I just want you to be happy.”
“Does this crap work with other girls?” I smile, even though I’m struggling to keep a straight face and not show my hand. I’m also trying to deny to myself that his questions are making me wet.
“I don’t know if it works with other girls. Is it working withyou? That’s all I care about.”
“How about you?” I ask, trying to shift the focus away from myself. “How many women have you been with? Are you ready to settle down? It is your thirtieth birthday, after all.”
“I’m ready when you are. It doesn't matter how many women I’ve been with. I don’t need anyone else anymore.”
My heart jumps into my throat again. Bryan is making me feel like I’m already falling for him.
